WNT in Arizona

Conspiracy theory: Matchroom has a back room deal with American Airlines! MIA, DFW, PHX

If only pool were big enough for AA to care :ROFLMAO:

The WNT events are described on the Matchroom Pool website: https://matchroompool.com

Here is a direct link to their description of the Arizona Open:

....a 128-player single elimination field, mirroring the thrilling format of last year’s Philippines Open Pool Championship. The top 64 ranked World Nine ball Tour professionals will automatically qualify, joined by a further 64 competitors to complete the field

If the top 64 are qualified, what's the playout situation for the bottom 64?
Do the Qualified play only the unqualified in the beginning rounds/or?
I didn't see the race length?

That’s how it worked in the Philippines.

The first round in Manila was races to 10.

Technically it is in Cali....(not Yuma).........I wonder if someone is booking it there so they can make a convenient under the radar trip right down the street into Santa Cecilia ......err....Algodones.....to see Cheech for some piss warm Chango.....or perhaps to pick up some company of the Female persuasion.

My advice is to stay on the U.S. side of the border. I won't get into all the reasons why.

I believe it means 64 WNT pros will be invited and guaranteed spots. The other 64 spots will be open to anyone that pays. The WNT players will be seeded. The rest not. Both groups will start in the same round of 128.

Arizona sounds like a good idea for an event, but ... fkn Yuma? Seriously? Yuma?! In August, no less.
That’s what I’m saying. But I am an AZ native and for this action, I will take what I can get. Hot is hot no matter where you are in southern AZ.

It’s just shy of a 4 hour drive for me and I can’t wait!

P.S I live less than 50 miles from the border, there is no way I would go to Mexico right now. Best to just stay in Cali/AZ.

Place looks pretty nice to me. BTW, to pick nits this place is technically in California. There's a nice lil RV resort with a golf course just across the river.

Having been to large convention centers in Palm Springs where the summer temps are 110-124 day time.... Only swamp coolers were used.
Wondering if this area uses swampers in the event/convention areas?
WTH. Just how old are you??? ;) They might use humidifiers if the air gets too dry. With all the people inside that's probably not an issue. The problem is desert winters, they are bone dry.

August is the worst month to pick for AZ and Yuma.....They won't be using swamp coolers....especially in August as it is Monsoon/Haboob....(google it)....August is the humid month in AZ.....There is nothing to see in Yuma so people won't venture outside of the Casino....Unless you are bringing a sand rail to go to the sand dunes....(make sure you have paddle tires).....or going to Algodones in search of Bucho

I’ve never been to Arizona. I’m guessing the Diamond rails play better there due to the dryness.

Sorry, couldn’t resist! Hahaha.

I would imagine the casino doesn't want people venturing outside of the casino and the agreement with matchroom for that time probably reflects that. Not to mention they've got other stuff going on elsewhere at other times, so that they're able to get it off at all is a good thing.

Too bad......They would have been better served to book Bluewater Resort Casino just a little north along the Colorado....That was the funnest pool tournament ever....nice casino and boat docks right outside the doors........finish a match......jump on a boat and fish until the next match.....If it was there I would have been interested.

just aim a little longer then you are supposed to according to the diamonds..
but dont hit them hard or they go so short you cant figure out where they are going.
dont use english on them as it doesnt do much good.
and if you hit them hard they go backwards after the second rail.

otherwise no problem with them.

smooth talking mr frost probably sold the idea to emily..

either way, doesn't AZ have a strong second/third tier contingent of players relative to its size? mitch ellerman and bobby emmons etc. used to watch streams from that region in early days of youtube streaming
