I'm an Ohio State fan, but I might have to convert after seeing their pool hall!

Dear LORD! LOOK at all those anniversary and Diamond tables! The wood paneling. I wonder if they realize the fortune they have there?

I sure would be happy to take away one of those old tables for them... ;)

Hmmm, if I lived there, I'd look into signing up for a class, get the student ID, in order to play on such good equipment. Hell, it might even be a money saver compared to table time.

Wait, what, ah.. that is on their campus? As in their school billiard room??

Best one I've seen by far.

Plus the video was well done, something like that should be played on a loop in pool halls LOL

great room. totally awesome. For me, though, *ruined* by the "break cloth". Worst idea ever. Like breaking off a mattress!

Otherwise, nice room!

No doubt. "That guy in the corner is working on his 15th Master's Degree."

I played there 3 times during college as part of the IU Pool Team. UM has the biggest intercollegiate team billiards competition in the country. Though they didn't have the Diamonds when I visited the whole place is simply awesome. Almost enough to make me want to transfer back in the day lol. If it has any drawback at all it is an overabundance of windows/sunlight.

That is nice. If you are local you can probably play there but you will most likely pay a higher rate than the students do. I've done that a few times at more than one college campus.

Well 'Go Buckeys' - but you may be doubly sad to learn that back when this was still America,
the Ohio State Union Billiard room had 18-ish Anniversary tables, including a Snooker
and 2 Carom ( 3 cushion) tables along with 15 nine foot pool tables with ball returns

There was also a bowling alley with 8 (?) lanes down the hall and around a corner from the Billiard room.

When I stopped in for an in-person visit in the early 80s - they had taken out half the
bowling alleys and shoe horned 4 of the pool tables onto 2 of the surviving lanes.

The former pool room had a couple dozen video games...

They realize they have a great room. The room manager worked hard to get those Diamond tables in the room last year.

They have hosted a lot of tournaments for the Association of College Unions International for the National Collegiate 9-ball Championships as well as BCA Juniors.

They actually are hosting a qualifying tournament this weekend for ACUI that will have two double elimination tournaments for men and women and a team 8-ball tournament prior to bring the students in.

In the fall, they host the University of Michigan Team Pool Championship.

It's in it's 14th year. Last year, 2016 was the first time in its history to have 16 unique 4-5 person teams from different colleges and universities.

It's an amazing event and one of the most historic pool rooms I have ever been in.

Better enjoy it while you can.

There are sad rumors going around that it's on it's last legs.

I'm curious as to why the last legs.
If ever there was a pool room that could stand the test of these times and survive, it would be a historical survivor pool room located on a tax free college campus of a division 1 major university.

Their overhead must be extremely minimal compared to every other non college pool room.

Any more details on the rumors?

Great college rooms are hard to find. College players need to get hooked on the game to become big money sponsors and equipment buyers later!

Hear me, oh universities--the students have enough video games. Pool makes them walk around the table for miles over a few hours!

The Michigan Union is in the midst of a big-bucks renovation, but I have not read of any effect on the Billiards and Games room.

Thank you for your kind words. My students and I made the video last year, so I will be sure to pass this along!
