I would like to make some cues with all wood joints and threads. I am thinking acme half inch by ten TPI or possibly half by 8 wood threads. What would be the best size, and the best way to make.
Thanks..........Jock

Acme would be a poor choice.

1/2 x 8 is close to the metric threads used on many Carom cues.

There is a company that sells a slick setup, but one is not supposed to reveal sources
on this subforum.

Fell free to PM me for the name... or ask doctor Google:)

Why not use the " standard " thread used by many companies who use a wood joint?

I have made several , always sell to fast , have not been able tto keep one for me , Love the way they shoot . I have the set up where you use a router to cut tha male threads and a tap for female , works perfect .

Good Luck , PM me if you want

it depends but yes...you can do it without live threading as well also...and i'm not talking about thread chasing either

in regards to the beale.....there are much better versions by diff makers.....that equipment hs been around for a long long time and is nothing new.....common in wood turning circles, you know guys like Abe Rich ;)

I am familiar with the b?. What I am interested in is the different ways to accomplish. I have been googling., but have not been very successful. can someone point to some sights that may help.
Also, why are acme threads not recommended? Thanks

Acme threads, just like ball screw threads, are designed to move things smoothly,
not to hold things together tightly.
