Words

Are you serious? A moderator can justify a decision to suspend or even ban someone based on language, there is justification at that time. But there is no justification for making a ban permanent because other members of the forum disgree with the banning and tell the moderators such. That takes what "was" a justifiable moderating decision based on the action of the banned and shifts things into a petty emotional response from the moderator punishing the "temp banned" person because of the actions of others.

It is "very" weak and an abuse of power against a forum that is ultimately as successful as it is because of the community of posters who choose to read and contribute to it.

I know that & agree. That's why I said I felt it was not right for his ban to be made permanent because of his friends taking up for him.

I'm amazed at how often people are confused about a website thinking it is a Democracy. And they make statements about the "majority blah blah". Most websites are privately held enterprises with rules and enforcement deemed appropriate by the Owner and Moderators. They have to draw the line somewhere and enforce the rules or you eventually end up with total anarchy with the site subsequently dissolving. At the end of the day, the owner and mods have 100% of the vote if anyone wishes to consider "majority".

I haven't been around here to really understand Jam's history on this site and I don't know juice at all. Whatever juice's good points are, I can't see the Moderators letting that sort of name calling be ignored. Given the number of people who have provided "character references" for juice, one would hope it truly isn't a ban but a short term suspension.

see what happens when you hit back / its all fun & games till jam gets poked in the eye ban the jam

I'm not even sure what to title this thread; thus, "Words" is the only word I can think of at the time of this writing. I write this with a heavy heart.

I was going to wait until tomorrow morning to create this thread, giving myself a day to think about what to say overnight, being able to pick my words gingerly so as not to offend anyone, but I kind of wanted to get this over with so I don't have to face it in the morning.

I woke up today at 4 a.m., which is when I begin my workday, and I immediately noticed that I had four PMs in my mailbox. It was then, reading several of them, that I discovered that Juice had been banned. Thereafter, I read the multiple threads on the Main Forum about the banning and the outrage that it had caused to members, as well as how my participation on some threads have been offensive, even detrimental to the climate of the environment.

I would be lying if I said that none of what I have read today bothered me, because I've been deeply saddened by it all day long. In fact, it is hurting me pretty badly. I had no idea that I was disliked this much. I know this is not the sentiment of the entire forum, but it seems as if it is the sentiment of the majority of this forum.

I had not asked for Juice to be banned, FWIW. I have read some things written about me today that are not true, but I won't hash them out in this thread. That's not the purpose of me writing here tonight.

I apologize for posting words that have been abrasive to AzBilliards members. I also am sorry for any thread drifts I created in the past. I had only meant to add levity to some threads by adding links to videos, music, and pictures. I was not aware that it was disruptive to the flow of things. I never meant for that to happen.

I hope the moderators allow Juice to return. It would bring good cheer to many who value his forum friendship.

Thank you for reading my thread. I'm not sure what else I can say, but I didn't want to just stop posting and not say something after this recent turn of events. I just wanted to express my thoughts.

I can't think of anything witty to close with, other than to say may all your balls fall in the pockets. Thanks for reading my words.

Oh, and I hope Team USA brings home the Mosconi Cup!

This looks like a simple car repo...until this hair dresser turns out to be a kung fu master. This really happened. All I'm trying to say to you hear is that you know your ability with words and how powerful they can be. With that said, do more good than bad with them...if for nothing, that's the responsible thing to do. In the mean time, enjoy this clip and have a nice night.

First off when you talk **** about a friend of mine that at a drop of a dime would help how ever he could yea its my business you proablly on know her from this website so...if u have a issue with what he said tell him and he shouldnt be banned its bull***

Ok, let me try this again, since, like I said, you couldn't quite understand the first several times.

This isn't a bar, this isn't a pool hall, this is a web site where even children are free to come and go as they please. Whether or not I give a flying ?? what comes out of anybody's mouth is besides the point. Go into Chuck-E-Cheese and see what the ** they have to say about the language. Got it?

For the record, I think he willfully crossed the line and that people like to push the limits by omitting a letter or changing a letter in cuss words. If he wants to see how far he can go to get around a well-known no-no, then he's flipping coins. What do I think of either of them? JAM contributes a lot and would probably be cool to hang out with. Juice contributes a lot and would probably be cool to hang out with.

I really don't give a rat's behind, but when I see a bunch of adults crying and throwing a tantrum over an internet forum, especially after an obvious violation of conduct, then I'll call it as I see it.

Just as you said, though.. you complained about people sticking out of stuff that doesn't affect them. Somebody talking smack about your friend doesn't affect you, but you jumped in anyways and tried to justify it. You said two opposite things and got called on it.

Stuff happens. Time to play some cards with my woman, watch Jeopardy, have a beer and wait for the lasagne to be done.

With any luck, she'll get full and tired and I can sneak out to go play pool!

Please get the words into a book that you used to talk about...I for one am waiting to read about the travels of Keith. Also, since there are quite a few tournaments that are springing up again around you, come out and take some pictures. I miss alot of the images you would add to stories of tourneys of the past. If you guys do not come out you will run out of material!

:)

Jennie,
You are not disliked "this much". In fact you are liked quite a lot by the vast majority of the posters, including some of the people who regularly engage you in one-upsmanship banter. Sometimes when people are failing at one-upsmanship they resort to mean-spiritness, more so on the Internet forums but also in public places.

Juice is a popular guy and I like him myself. I think he used poor judgment in using the C word. I hadn't read that he was permanently banned but if he is permanently banned, I HAVE TO BELIEVE IT IS BECAUSE OF what he said to Mr. Wilson either in public or PMs. Using a vulgar word by itself doesn't get you permanently banned and I doubt if Mr. Wilson decided out of the blue to make an example out of Juice, but sometimes people have to make decisions, so who knows.... I haven't read all of the posts and don't know even if Mr. Wilson did in fact make it a permanent ban.

Regardless, you continue to be one of the most popular posters on the Main Forum and will continue to draw criticism in whatever you say or do. I find that the louder critics make it seem like it is more of them than there really are. And just know that some of your critics, just want to take you down a notch. Sometimes, when you are participating in the playing of one-upsmanship, you are playing it at such a high level, they have no chance. :D If you can be taken down a notch by a posse, it makes you more accessible and the posse can feel better about themselves.

To be honest, some of the criticism launched at you is just but not all of it, in fact, most of it is bull****. Look at Obama, he's got more critics than you can shake a stick at but he's still hanging tough and you should too. None of us are perfect, certainly not on this forum and sometimes not even in our most private moments.

I agree that Juice's ban should not be permanent but I also believe that he made a classic mistake in using vulgar language on the forum. HOPEFULLY, this will be a lesson learned for all of us.

I have just returned to AZbilliards and its forum after a long hiatus and in reading this current thread I must say I haven't a clue as to what has occurred to cause all the hub-bub. I do not know Juice and have never read any of his postings but I must say that I've known Jennie for somewhere pushing 40 years now and I can tell everyone within shouting distance that Jennie hasn't a malicious bone in her body. Yes, she can rub people the wrong way sometimes, just like everyone else, but for my money Jennie M. is an asset to this or any other forum which she should chooses to participate and we are all better off for it.

Jam, this apology is no good unless you plan on changing. You like to push buttons and then play victim when people push back.

Your condescending tone in lots of your posts is what gets people riled up also. Who cares if someone uses incorrect grammar or spelling? As long as it's comprehensible, does it really matter? I've seen you nit-pick some the pettiest things. For someone that claims to be mature and likes to talk down on people by saying they're not, it's quite childish of you.

Mosconiac summed it up nicely in another thread.

FWIW, JAM repeatedly provokes & prods her prey until they lash out. Then she responds with "shock" that someone would attack her so viciously. It's a cycle & it's quite petty of her. It's amazing how she is always embroiled in some controversial issue, yet always claims to be the innocent one.

Your modus operandi is exemplified quite fittingly in this video.

Juice deserved the ban and if he is half the man his friends make him out to be he will admit he was wrong and offer an apology.

I hope he isn't banned permanently, but that is up to Mr. Wilson and higher ups to decide.

As to the ones who think what Juice did was ok and he did nothing wrong, next time you see a thread about what is wrong with pool, look in the mirror. You are what is wrong with pool.

IMO of course.

Jam this reply just sums up how awesom you really are, theres is a hell of a lot more members here at AZ that likes you and appreciates all your knowledge then there is not, You are a super strong women with tons of great information stored in your immaculant mind, all the great info and stories that you share with all of us (pictures) is not no hearsay, you were there first hand and lived it on the inside, if we didnt have you and your stories this place wouldnt be half of what it is without all what you bring to it, Jam you will always have much more love then hate no matter where you go and what you do, thats just the kind of person you are, YOU ARE GREAT PEOPLE!

From my close observation of writers... they fall into two groups: 1) those who bleed copiously and visibly at any bad review, and 2) those who bleed copiously and secretly at any bad review.

Jam, don't sweat much in life, after all, it's not permanent.

I have a question for you have. Have you ever been in a pool room before or is you pool.table in church cuz im pretty sure they call females worsethings than t
What juice said and i personal know juice you really gotta bother him for awhile for him to get anger so should he of i dont know should YOU get in the middle of somtjing that has absolutly nothing to do to you no you shouldnt so......in the end it is what it is he should be banned for calling names they do it all over this site so who care get over and if she doesnt want juoce banned he shouldnt be

Actually I have been in pool rooms all my life and rarely do women get called this.

But I have also beeen around Brits a lot and they say it to each other all the time. Different cultures.

The larger point is that Jenny DOES contribute a lot of well written content to this forum. And Juice contributes a lot to the street-level pool pulse. This is just two good people who went at it.

But the person who lose their cool first loses the fight. Juice stepped over the line. Jenny can handle herself just fine in the back and forth. She has been in pool rooms all her life as well. And as much as we would like to think that this is just one big virtual poolroom, it's not.

It's a place where you can type out words that are intended to wound deeply.

And for any of you who think words don't hurt as yourself why you are here talking about them then? There is a very good reason that the pen is mightier than the sword. Words can be and are used as weapons, if not then why say them? Are you a bunch of pansies throwing nerf balls and giggling?

No you are throwing around words like ninja stars for the EXACT purpose of hurting someone else. You want the applause of others for telling it like is and burning someone. You want to provoke a reaction.

Now if we were all strong enough to ignore the words, which after all are not physical weapons, then they would eventually stop being used as weapons. But we ALL know that words do matter and that when the right combination of them is found they hit harder than a punch to the face.

So no sense pretending that this is all harmless. It is harmless UNTIL someone makes it hurtful. In the pool room you can bark all you want to up to a point. People who know how to be cool can bark and put others down and expect it to come back on them the same way until someone crosses the line and then things get violent.

Context and intent. Words and tone matter a lot.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hate is a strong word, i for one don't hate you JAM.

As the saying goes "the first step is admitting you have a problem"

-Trolling is the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet, generally on message boards.
-Trolling is trying to get a rise out of someone.
-Trolling is the art of deliberately, cleverly, and secretly pissing people off, usually via the internet, using dialogue.

Signs that your trolling is succesful:
*Your victim screaming in all-caps at you.
*Personal attacks (Calling you a retard, idiot, etc).
*Making a crude remark.

You are a smart enough lady to know that you sometimes do the above and get those reactions back, only you know whether it's knowingly or not.

I love the pictures and the story posts, the grammar nazi posts and questioning peoples intelligence because they spelled ridiculous incorrectly, not so much.
