If your previous score updates were correct, that means that Alex came back 9-4 down from Django, with alternating breaks? That's hard to believe!

I'm rooting for an Alex vs. Dennis showdown in the finals. Let the rivalry continue!

Thanks for the updates JCIN!

EDIT: Oops, gopi just posted what i was thinking.

Shane vs. Dennis... Again!

Looks like Shane got his wish!

thanks for the updates JCIN & bignasty :D

What a joke. Changing the final 16 to single elimination. IF I paid 450 bucks for a double elimination tournament, I want both barrels to fire. Not a slap in the face for finishing undefeated in the top 8 to have a redraw with guys using their 2nd barrel to only beat me once to move on.

Raj, Niels, Johnny, Danny and Ralf not only got the shaft, they got it broke off way up their ass.

Go Shane and Alex, I hope they make the finals. Maybe in the finals they will change the game to bowling....

I don't like that format either!
Although it's very common in Europe.... they will play double elimination until the the last 32 and then single elimination from there to the final....
I think it's stupid! If you're going to play D-E then make it a true D-E when the player that comes from the looser side should win twice in the final.

Or forget this whole D-E format and move to a tennis format when every match is made from a few sets, this way the players get more then one chance to stay in the tournament.
I don't know many sports that give a looser in a match a chance to get back in and win a tournament....

Please..........

Please JCIN don't leave in suspense! What's happening?

Thanks for all your updates!

Formats do vary from tournament to tournament. Hopefully -- and I do not know -- the players who are competing in this World 10-Ball Championship knew the format going into it. So, in essence, there are truly no surprises or changes of the format willy nilly as was, of course, the rule changes that occurred from event to event with the UPA when it was under a different leadership than it is today.

From what I understand, they use this format to get more television coverage. I agree that it doesn't seem fair to take the last 32 to single elimination. Many events are now taking the finals match to 1 longer race. This makes sense to me.JM2C.

Hmmmm... I see a cawinky dink with those leadership days of the past and this event...

Oh well, at least he is promoting professional pool.

Yep, leave it a true dbl. elim event, especially when its suppose to be considered a World? Event.

Battling back

I agree but ,if you'll notice , Shane didn't limp in be playing where
he is now,he won a lot of matches in the losers side to get where he
is in this tourney. As his grandfather ,I have seen Shane battle
battle back numerous times . He is a great come from behind player
and its a great attribute if your going to become a world class player.

Here's hoping Cliff catches a gear. I like Alex a whole bunch and if he wasn't playing in this WORLD tourney, I'd be pulling for me, but this is the time to change: USA, ALL THE WAY!

Go, Cliff, go!

Here in D.C., we call it "selective promoting." JMHO, FWIW!

Got to give a HUGE shout-out to Shane, the new American pool champion en route to be a legend. GO, SHANE. BRING HOME THE BACON!

I love this picture of him. For some reason, he reminds me of Perry Como! Very relaxed and a calm demeanor. :)

USA, ALL THE WAY!
