Easy Ryan. I wasn't implying that Orcullo plays better straight pool than any of the straight pool experts. That's part of the whole debate that I'm trying to bring up. Can a rotation specialist compete against the best in the world in straight pool? It isn't unprecedented, considering Efren won a title in 95 and Manalo won a title last year (though I don't know if Manalo is considered a rotation specialist).Ryan McCreesh said:LOL Well if you think that Orcullo plays better str8 pool then DAN BAROUTY you must be smoking something funny. If anyone is a favorite in that bracket it is Dan Barouty and then MYSELF!!!!!!! FIN Mika Immonen
USA Jose Garcia
CAN Luc Salvas
PS
Top 4 go through (I hope!)

My pick to win the title, which will surprise nobody, is Thorsten Hohmann, whose performance at the 2005 European Straight Pool Championships surely rates as one of the greatest ever straight pool efforts. In addition, Hohmann won over an elite field in his only appearance in the NJ Straight Pool Championships, and earned great praise from his fellow competitors, some of them Hall-of-Famers.
There are many who pose a threat, and I'll say that Thomas Engert is the one most likely to beat Thorsten out of this title.

Blackjack said:I agree with that. Toastie just plays 14.1 at a different level than the rest of the world. He says that he is playing very well and thats dangerous for the rest of the field. Ralf just won the BCA, and he and Thorsten practice together quite often. Engert just isn't human once he enters the zone, I will go out on a limb to say he might have the high run of the tournament, and he is capable of winning the whole thing.
How's about Munich Spaten?i210mfu said:Good choice !!! *lol
If they serve WARSTEINER too, try it ain't bad either

(both on tape at accustats) Mosconi leaned over to the other player and supposidly made the statement "that man has more heart than anybody i have seen in a long time". That said after MZ ran the 148 and out after losing 150/0...................mike

While JL is not the equal of the very top men in straight pool - she's NOT that far away.

i love her dedication and passion for 14.1....she truely LOVES the game, but she's so far away from top level 14.1, it's not even funny.
