World Cup of Pool 2012 started

Philippine B on the hill. HK has been served a thorough schooling by the wily veterans. They get beat on the safety play, in the pushouts they get tricked into taking it or get punished for giving it back.

If Efren maintains this form all week, I would wager a pretty penny on them winning it all.

Philippines B won, 8 games to 3. It's been a while since I saw Efren so serious and he looks hell bent on winning the World Cup Of Pool again with Django, for the 3rd time. This could be his last hurrah...

Up next, defending champion Germany vs. Serbia...

And Serbia look like they are about to get schooled.... 1-0 Germany.

Bump

Let's keep this on the front page for a few days. This is a premier event.

Where can I see the brackets, and live scoring at least, if we don't have live tv stream, a scoring board would be nice

My friends Nittiwat and Kobkit from Thailand made it to the final last year. They surprised everyone.

Hope to see them do well again this year.

Man, did Efren look good in his match last night! He was the old Efren, in full control all the way, the cue ball on a string. He had Team Hong Kong shooting out of a hole all night long. Naturally Francisco played well, as expected, always inspired when his buddy Efren is in full swing. No one all day controlled the cue ball anywhere close to Efren. Everyone else struggled with the speed of the table, but not the old master. He had it down!

The question is, can he maintain that level of play for five more days? If he can, they may become the team to beat. Francisco is still the same guy, one of the greatest players alive today. His game has not faltered one iota imo. He remains a threat to win anywhere, anytime! Funny thing is, every time we began to write Efren off, he resurrects himself and shows us once more why he is one of the all time greats!

Meanwhile Team USA looked weak, and we're extremely fortunate to get by Team India. Shane especially was not sharp, missing balls and position time after time. Team Germany dominated even with Ralf Souquet suffering from food poisoning. He got sick after the press conference at TGIFridays in the mall where the event is being held. I don't trust that place, overpriced food and not that good either. I seriously doubt they have the sanitary inspections that restaurants in America have to undergo. Just remember one thing if you're ever over here. DON'T drink the water! Bottled water only for me. Ralf was at the hospital on an IV only two hours prior to his match. He looked weak and drained but still managed somehow to perform. A lesser player may have forfeited in that spot!

Hello and many greetings from Manila,

the atmosphere here is just awesome and this Venue at Robinsons Place Ermita, which was the same as in 2010 WCoP is definitely the best Pool Venue in the World! It's an honor to be a part of it and play infront of this massive crowd! The Pool Fans here are very appreciating and simply love our sport and the Players.

I would really appreciate it, if you would become a 'fan' of my Facebook Page and follow all the News about this and other tournaments and to see some first impressions of the this years World Cup of Pool!!

Wow!!! That is exactly what we need over here in the USA for big matches. Look at those fans!!!

Isn't Manilla 13 hours ahead of my time (Central Daylight Time)? Wouldn't the scheduled Wednesday matches be played starting a couple of hours from now???

Yes, thats correct! First session starts at noon (Manila time) but the Live broadcasting starts with the 3pm session, followed by the 6pm session and at 9pm they are showing the noon session!! So 6 matches a day, what more could a Pool heart want??? ;)

To follow the action LIVE, check out http://www.ilive.to/view/8620/ and to check out imressions of the tornament and the 'action tables', feel free to like my page http://www.facebook.com/Philippstojanovic ;)

Cheers,

Hi Philipp,

It is great to see players sharing their thoughts on the forum. What do you plan to do in your 2 month stay in Manila? Where would you usually play here? Good Luck in the tournament!

Does anybody know/found any working streaming link?
I tried googling around and couldn't find any (those above doesn't work for me either)
the ilive 8620 link doesn't seem to be covering the tour now :frown:

The TV coverage starts at 6 pm local time, or 3 am Pacific/6 am Eastern, about 57 minutes from now.

It worked last night...
