Tough to really tell for sure, but it looks like Earl is trying to play a more conservative game. It will work if he can start really locking up the safeties.
 
Croatia looks like the weakest team in the field of 32 and, of those that have won, no team has looked worse than Russia, which will be the next USA opponent. USA looks very safe to the quarterfinals in my books, but by then they'll have to play a good team.

I think it will help Team USA that Earl has just come off a very solid 5th place finish at Turning Stone. His confidence should be high.
 
Earl is rolling and behaving himself So long as he just plays the table, USA will be hard to beat
the old guy of Croatia is the weak link, missed the combo earlier and just now missed another ball

I see SVB shirt says 3 while Earl shirt says 5
Anyone knows what the numbers means?

Shane jumped that with his playing cue. He plays with the handle extension on and just removed it for the jump. The announcers couldn't understand what he did. That was funny. "Well, what would you call that cue he used? It's too long to be a jump cue"
He played whole turning stone with his cue with that extension. Now it makes sense. Getting ready for world cup of pool.
 
Dry break for Earl in the 7th rack. Croatia misses the 1, and with no position available to Shane he plays safe. Croatia misses the safe and Earl has BIH. They play to the 5 where Earl tries to play to the 6-7 combo for Shane but scratches 2 rails in the corner. Croatia cleans it up to make it 6-1. Croatia's break.

As a side note, Earl grabbed the CB before it went into the pocket. Not sure if that's a further foul in matchroom events.
 
Earl is just not himself today :thumbup:
He stopped the CB before it scratched but can be loss of rack for disturbing balls
But thank God the table was open for Croatia to run out
If Croatia did not run out rack there could be issues later LOL
 
Team usa is finishing a little weak. I hope we get out of this rack.

Earl better rein it in Croatia was giving this rack away and we still lost. Three errors in that rack by earl 6-2

Dry break by Croatia. USA starting to make some mistakes positionally. Shane is hooked on the 5, but lucks a safe behind the 6. Croatia hits it but leaves it hanging in the hole. Earl shorts position on the 6, Shane tries to bank, but misses. Croatia with some life here and pots the next 2 balls before a horrible position play on the 8. They play safe behind the 9. Earl scratches on the kick and Croatia pots the last two to bring it to 6-2, USA leading. Croatia with the break.
