World Cup of Pool 2014(Portsmouth, UK) 23-28Sep (9ball Scotch Doubles) Winner $60K

Dry break from the spaniards. Boyes tries to cut the 1 in the corner, but scratches off of the 2 in the side. The 3 is tied up with the 7 ball, and the two is awkward. They pocket the 1 5 and 2, and almost scratch off of the 2. The 3-7 combo is on though and the 7 falls, and they' move through the rack to make it 3-2 Spain.

Dry, illegal break. No real shot on the one for Appleton except for a safe. Only partially hidden. Alcaide kicks with spin but cant return the safe. Open shot for England and they move through the rack. 3-3

It's almost the tallest accessible structure in England. A county known for oddly shaped buildings.

That is such a gorgeous table they are playing on. I love the charcoal stain with the blue cloth... Best look for Diamonds, IMHO.

If I ever come into some big money I'm getting a Diamond just like that one.

It motivates me to play better so I can spend less time looking at them.

I have gotta go pick up my son later folks.

I will leave you with this...
Portsmouth has a higher population density than London According to Wikipedia.

6-5 Spain after an off angle combo on the 9 by Spain.
Spain breaks and makes a ball but was an illegal break..

England runs out

6-6

England A wins 7-6 after a terrible miss by Spain. Nerves could be the only thing that could explain that miss. Spain deserved this match as they outplayed England A. If this is England A's game going forward, they won't last much longer in the tournament.

England makes a dry break...Spain pushes out to a think hit on the one only to see england give it back...

Alcaide tries to slice it in on a 2 way shot but leaves it in the pocket and long for england...

Boyes makes a lucky shot pocketing the 1 but caroms off the 8 for great shape on the 2 only to see Appleton over run shape for a 3-7 combo...

Boyes tries to play safe on the 3 but hits it horribly and leaves it hanging in the pocket for Francisco..he makes it leaving alcaide on the 4...He rattles at and leaves and easy out for England A

7-6 England

Just watched the replay since I was at work today. I knew the outcome, but when I saw the layout after Boyes hung the 3 I was saying to myself "Spain is gonna lose from here? From here??". Gotta be the pressure. Amazing.

The pressure is undoubtedly immense. Spain was really feeling it though. After the illegal break (which is totally dumb I think) where Spain pocketed a ball, sitting in your chair will definitely ice anyone.

I really enjoy the format too!!

China, USA and England A all need to up their levels of play to contend. Still, it's early and they may all do so.

To this point, Finland played the best first round match.

Poland may be a team to watch. Sniegocki and Skowerski are both outstanding players capable of getting on a roll.

Can't help but feel that Team Philippines would be stronger if it were Orcullo/Biado, although breaking up the defending champions would be odd.

Similarly, Chinese Taipei didn't show up with its best. Ko Pin Yi, Ko Ping Ching and JL Chang were all super-impressive at the CSI events in Vegas two months ago. Sitting all three of them struck me as odd.

Finally, last year's atrocity of denying then World 9-ball champion Thorsten Hohmann a spot in the World Cup of Pool and the Mosconi Cup will not be repeated.
