WORLD POOL CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 June2021) Champion $50K

Nice break by Albin and maybe this match will return to the kind of match he's wanted --- wide open. He runs out well to regain the lead at 8-7.
Omar in trouble after missing that 4.
Albin is the Selby of pool
Albin returns the favor with a shocking miss on the six and Omar back in front 8-7. Suspect you mean Omar is the Selby of pool, as both are good grinders who use tactical mastery to win control of the table.

Break and run by Omar in which he had to negotiate a rather difficult eight ball, but he was up to the challenge and now leads 9-7.

Albin jumps in the two in rack 17 and completes an absolutely sparkling runout to pull within 9-8. Fantastic!

Was thinking along line that Albin with his relatively "boring" style gets into multiple finals (3 already) and we will likely continue to see him in more finals. And yes also that he is grinder like Selby. I think grinding and winning CLP with record matches probably helped with most table time this year than probably any other player :D

Albin break and run in Rack 18 bring it to 9-9. That amazing runout in rack 17 may prove the match defining moment, but there's still much pool left to be played. Two really top notch racks in a row for Albin, and his confidence should be growing.

Tacks on another break and run in rack 19 and takes the lead at 10-9.

Rack 20 requires a push by Albin. Pass or play was very close choice here, but Omar gives it back. Albin plays a decent safety, but Omar fouls on what should have been an easy hit. With ball in hand, Albin should be in business here, and he runs out nicely for an 11-9 lead. He's in stroke again!

Albin break and run and he's on the hill for the title, 12-9.

It's just gotten away from Omar. Albin's offense is overpowering. Not over yet, but harder to see Omar's path now with Albin on the hill and Omar with 9.

On the hill and drops 3 on the break, but has to push!

Omar with the sell out stroke on a low percentage 1 ball and should be all over.

Albin takes it. Omar gave us a great final with stellar play for his part, but just couldn't out gun Albin's offense. What a final!

It's all over, 13-9. A tale of three matches:

Stage 1: Albin's opening three pack for 3-0.
Stage 2: Omar's great tactical superiority delivered nine of the next 13 racks, for a 9-7 lead.
Stage 3: Albin found his power game down the stretch, winning the last six racks, for 13-9.

Congratulations to Albin. Well done!

For my money, rack seventeen was the defining one of this match. Albin's runout was remarkable, and all the momentum shifted, and the remainder of the match was, for the most part, the kind of shootout that Albin always favors.

well done albin. very good position play in particular. he didn't have to make many tough shots, except for ones left by omar

I enjoyed the commentary during the final. Alex Lely brings out the best in Karl Boyes, and Karl knows when to defer to Alex' judgement in analyzing the play, even throwing in some very well-timed and well-judged questions to Alex. Well done Karl, well done Alex, and thank you Matchroom for a fine event. Let's do it again soon!

I hope this isn't a one off for Omar. He played very intelligently and rose to the occasion in the final. If his best pool is yet to come, then I will very much enjoy watching him in the future!

Watching the post match interview, I as a non English speaker now get the phrases "gracious in defeat"-"humble in victory".

An exciting final with two sympathetic players.
There were a lot of discussions about the easy pockets, the predictable breaks and the maybe not so strong field in this tournament, but in the end it was an entertaining tournament once again and I hope that Matchroom will stick to this sport and maybe in one or two years it will attract the same crowds as Snooker or Darts.

Congrats to Albin Ouschan -now a 2x World Champion and #1 on Matchroom World Rankings. Well done !
Put on some top notch performances in this event probably more than half-baked performances of the top 4 guns put together. Yes, those top 4 guns who were unceremoniously booted out early in this event :ROFLMAO:

I wish him well, but given the weakness of this field and the ridiculously easy conditions which, at times, obscured his less than perfect fundamentals, I'm not sure what to expect going forward.

Omar entered as a Fargo 777, which put him as the number 86 player in the world based on that statistic. His Fargo will certainly go up now, but has he joined the ranks of the most elite nine ballers? My sense of things is not yet, but he's such a quality guy with such a winning attitude that I hope I'm badly mistaken. Once the Filipinos, Chinese, and Taiwanese return to the pro pool scene, things are going to look very different.

Omar may contend for some big titles on occasion, but there is a legitimate danger that this will, indeed, prove a one-off.
