Doesn`t the US Open start on the 22nd?

So I guess we won`t see many top pros, at least in the men`s division.

They usually give 'em byes or start their part of the chart on Day 2 or 3 of the Open. That is how it went down in the past, at any rate. :)

The men's portion of that event is Oct. 16-22, which steps directly on the dates of the American 14.1 Straight Pool Championship -- Oct. 17-21.

Last year, the American 14.1 event drew many international players, who could then move easily to the US Open 9-Ball Championship the next week.

Hmmm...I still think that many pros won`t travel to Manila and risk having jet lag going into the US Open.
Especially for the Europeans the US Open is an important event, since it is rated as a level one tournament for the Mosconi rankings.

Ouch! We've got a problem here. That is awful. :sorry:

Doesn't anyone look at a calendar when scheduling these things?

WPA earning their keep again, I see....and making sure the money is right...:rolleyes:

My prediction....Shane, being probably the best 10-player in the galaxy, slaughters the
field.....gets arrested because they think he's on drugs...Trump has to threaten war to get
SVB back.....Shane wins the Open....again.

pt....legitimate competition for Nostradamus :)

This is great news. It's about time they moved the World Championship out of Qatar. I personally thought that the prestige of the event declined considerably since 2011--so much so that a lot of people nowadays (or some people here in the forums at least) don't consider our current champion Albin Ouschan as the best player today. The guy apparently has to play for the big money to gain credibility. Where did it all go wrong?

The last great World Championship in my opinion was in 2006 when Ronnie Alcano won the title. Great production values, very lively crowd and excellent commentary team. With the World Championship going back to Manila, the Philippines will again be, and rightfully so, the epicenter of pool.

Time to go back home!

This is the world TEN-BALL championship being discussed here.
..as far as I know, Qatar still has the nine-ball rights.

Yen Makabenta...the same guy who had big trouble paying players of those World 10b Championship tournaments he organized? And the same Yen Makabenta who was the reason why Matchroom Sports stopped organizing WPC 9b? Not sure if this good thing....

what is it about Manila that draws this tournament,?
the action will be greater than as if it were in Beijing, I want to see this.
