World Straight Pool Updates from New Jersey

in the player's meeting they said the top 32 would be seeded based on how everyone did in the round robin matches, i.e. if you went 7-0 you'd be seeded #1, then someone with a 6-1 record who made 99 balls in his one loss would be #2, and the guy with a 6-1 record and 98 balls in his one loss would be seeded # 3 and so on. So in the top 32, #1 would play #32 first round.

I'm really curious how the seeding worked and who was seeded what going into the top 32!

Anyone interested in doing the math?

Based on the draw in the post from Myra Curfs, I assume Mika Immonen is #1, Nick van den Berg #2, Johnny Archer #3 and Niels Feijen #4.

Yep you are right about the top 4. I'll have the entire thing done with all the seeds in a few minutes.

WOW

Look at these possible match-ups for next round on the winnerside:

John Schmidt (US Open, 404 and 400 in 14-1)

Ralf Souquet (He's Ralf)
Thosten Hohmann (World 9-ball and World 14-1)

Oliver Ortmann (World 9-ball and World 14-1)
Bobby Hunter (World 14-1)

Huidji See (Semifinal or runner-up World 14-1)
Niels Feijen (4 x Euro 14-1 Champ)

Johnny Archer (World 9-ball)
Corey Deuel (US Open)

Dominic Jentsch (16 year up-and-coming star)

I was thinking about going out to NJ Friday, but with it being only a single elimination from here on out, how much pool would be left to play by Friday?

If there are 8 tables, and two morning sessions and two evening sessions, of single eliminations on Thursday, (today) if my math is right, by the end of today only four players will be left on Friday for the entire day.

How badly did I screw up the math? :)

It's DOUBLE elimination for Top 32 and then the Top 16 is single elimination!

That's too bad that these two are in the same bracket. They're my two picks.

Fred <~~~ thinks we need more than "World Champ" next to Sigel's name

I don't know exactly what the seeds are but Dave Daya is definitely not #26 with a 6-1 record in the round robin.

You are right. I had him and his opponent mixed up.

1 Mika Immonen
2 Nick Van Den Berg
3 Johnny Archer
4 Niels Feijen
5 Oliver Ortmann
6 Francisco Bustamante
7 Dave Daya
8 Charlie Williams
9 Ralf Souquet
10 Konstantin Stepanov
11 Mike Sigel

28 Danny Barouty
29 Mike Davis
30 Raj Hundal
31 Tony Robles
32 Jasmin Ouschan

John Schmidt 150 Bob Maidhof 70-something
Harriman over Sigel by forfeit
Deuel 150 Lipsky 3

In progress

Chavez 121 See 42
Hunter 102 dechaine 64
Souquet 127 Facquet 24
Babica 67 Hopkins 53

Didn't catch the score of Engert vs Stepanov, but they are still playing.

I watched Deuel vs Lipsky, which turned on a dime. Steve trailed 24-3 with a ball in hand break shot on the eight ball, which lay a few inches ahead of the head string and a few inches off the long rail. Steve had to pocket the eight ball into the bottom corner and follow the cue ball several feet to hit the rack. Steve made the shot and hit the pack but scratched off the side of the rack. Deuel got up and hit him with 97 and the rout was on.
