ACS Nationals to host 2009 Diamond World Summit of Pool

The American CueSports Alliance (ACS) is excited to announce its hosting of the $20,000-added “Diamond World Summit of Pool” pro 9-ball championship during the ACS Nationals at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Many of the top professional players, such as Shane “The South Dakota Kid” Van Boening, Johnny “The Scorpion” Archer, Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan, Mika “The Iceman” Immonen and Rodney “The Rocket” Morris will be featured in the June 3-6 event, which is being hosted and produced by the ACS and co-produced and sanctioned by the United States Professional Poolplayers Association (UPA).

1. Shane “The South Dakota Kid” Van Boening
2. Johnny “The Scorpion” Archer
3. Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan

Shane is not attending afterall...he is staying in the Philippines until the China Open.

I am real curious to see what the turnout is for this. I will be there Tuesday night to check out the Pro/Am.

Well, the blank brackets they are using are based on a 32 player field.

I know a number of top pros who have indicated they were not attending.

Interesting...Wasn't it advertised as a 64 player tournament? Even if a lot of the top pros don't attend, surely there are other strong players they could have invited to fill those 64 spots.

I am thinking the $125 UPA tour membership fee required on top of the $300 entry fee may keep some of the dead money from jumping in.

The bright side is that for your $125 you get a patch, tshirt and the right to play in the cornucopia of UPA events.

Less than thirty two would be a shock, even with the UPA fee and all.

Heard from Rodney tonight that he is playing.

I agree, even with the $425 fee to play, DP charged over $600 and still drew over 120 players so less than 32 wouldn't be good.

I know Shane had trouble rationalizing paying $1500 to come back to the US between the Philippine Open and the China Open to maybe win a little more than that. So he decided his time was better spent gambling with the philippinos and taiwanese in Manila and is staying there until the China Open. But I'm sure that's only the case with some of the players.

I was wondering if Corey would try to race back to play in Vegas, but I had forgotten about the China Open. Definitely bad timing for the UPA to hold an event.

Go USA

There's an outstancing chance that the winner (money) will be from the USA.

corey barred from tournament

I was told Corey was barred from event from a creditable source because of hitting charlie williams. Mike, have you ever hit anyone? Wonder how many players have had bad moments in their life? Wonder if Harriman is playing?
