World Team Billiards

I actually have a set of these cards I found in Oregon about 10 years ago. I don't think there worth much but they look cool sitting in my collection.

Dang thats awesome,i had forgotten who all played on the first mosconi cup for the american team, that team was loaded with champs man,i remember watching them play a little. All the young faces from the past, Dennis Hatch,CJ Wiley,Bustemonte,Tommy Kennedy, thats some funny stuff right there. I remember when those cards came out, hell i may have had them at one time and lost them over the years.Thats some good stuff, nice post. Mark Wilson looked pretty young too,i didnt remember him back then,i do remember going to Sticks and Stones pool hall in Indianapolis and watching George Breedlove run rack after rack practicing on a GC. One of those years in there Jeff Carter and Breedlove shared 5th ranking on the pro tour i remember that. Man its a shame we all got to get old isnt it,those were some great years, fun to look back tho. Somebody ought to put that girly picture of Dennis Hatch out there on FB where he can see it,and see if he would get mad or laugh about it. Well JA and Tommy Kennedys are funny too.

Nice to see Tony Ellin again, and Jay Swanson!

I also have a set of the cards down in my pool room. I had 5 sets we purchased years ago when they came out and I was convinced they would be $$$ some day.....but I kept the best set and gave the others away!

Cool seeing how all these guys looked when they were young, I didn't get into pool into a few of these guys had white hair or no hair.

Best shirts by far as Allen Hopkins and Billy Incardona, who is very photogenic.
Archer's photo came out best, he looks young and intense.

If you photoshopped out the cue, that could be Thomas Engert's high school prom photo.

dennis hatch, lol,:rotflmao1:

Dennis did make to to the finals of the US Open about this time, so not too surprising he was included. I actually heard from one of the commentators that it seemed that loss to Buddy on hill hill is what stopped him from going into the very top ranks of players.

Nice link, some of the bio write ups are great! Roger Griffis "markets his own brand of Jalapeño peanut brittle." hehe.

I have two sets of these one of which is unopened and still in the original cellophane. They were given to me by Maurice Rind who owned World Wide Collectibles.who published them. I was over in Vegas for the World Team Billiards finals and the cards were launched to coincide with that.

I was working on him to publish a similar product for the World Darts players. I set up a meeting between the newly formed PDC and the BDO but was unable to get them to agree on how royalties would be split and the plan was abandoned.

Maurice was an interesting guy. He was the nephew of Meyer Lanskey who (along with Bugsy Sigel) was credited with creating the original Vegas Strip.

We were queueing for Dinner at The Sahara one evening, Stay in the queue he said to me, I 'll be back in 10 minutes. I was next table up when he arrived 20 minutes later. Everything OK I asked. I just dropped twenty grand playing craps was his reply.

I hadn't heard of him for years until recently I heard an unconfirmed rumor that he was the financial muscle behind Mike Sigel's ambitious new league setup. This caused me to wonder if there is any connection between Mike and Bugsy
