I have had (2) in the last 60 days I have been stewing over, and I want opinions as if I am right or wrong.

First involved a Bridge/Rakes, Lack of them in a BAR. I am playing in this Bar Box tournament, and honestly I HATE Playing on Bar Boxes,
angeryonfire.gif
But a Bridges/Rakes is need for a shot, and i go over to where they normally are. No Bridges/Rakes. So I ask the TD where are the Bridges/Racks, he replies they are all broken. Hello like did they break in one day, and why are they not

Second involved a TD who made me wait 25 minutes so a "league player", could participate in a tournament. After calling my match, and me waiting 5 minutes for my opponent to show up, I ask the TD were is so and so who was called to play me. TD say he will be along shortly, and shortly was 25 MINUTES LATER.

To me this is B.S. as you are either Playing League, or in a Tournament. My mistake was not asking for a refund on my Entry FEE, and going homebefore my BP went to the sky.

Sounds like you need to make some friends and bring your own pool supplies...lol!:winknudge:

I palyed in a jack and jill tourney and the td told me that there is a possibility of my rank going up and down during the tourney. I asjed how can my individual rank go up if we are playing scotch doubles? They assured me that it was very unlikely that my rank go up beacause of the format...Well guess what...after the 1st game i went up....LOL!!

How can a bar/pool room have no racks??? I mean, thats mental. You should have walked out got your $$ back

Normally outside the table things like the music or people walking by etc do not bother me. But I keep torturing myself playing in this one pool halls monthly tournament. I have won it several times, but I can not tell you how many times Ive came in second.
Its mostly a kids kind of place with loud thumping rap music and kids running past seemingly constantly to go outside or to the bathroom etc.
Ive gotten in the hot seat countless times and lost 2 in a row to a guy who cant play, that I have put in the losers bracket cause I finally snap and let the outside crap get to me.

apa team finals

Several years ago (when I played apa) my team played in the semi finals.
There was a steel pole 3 feet from the corner of the table.

Worst tourney experience

20 years ago, I made it to the finals of a college doubles 8-ball tournament. I was younger then and pretty arrogant, though I did play well. My opponents attacked my rhythm by playing the same song on the juke box 12 times.

I listened to the song "Kiss" by Prince until I was unable to make a ball. They won. My partner played well but it was like he didn't exist...the real partner I had to work with was the racist side of me that disliked that music and the opponents who chose to dance to it in the pool room. They knew I had a weakness and they exploited it.

I still have issues with idiots in the poolroom, but thank God, it isnt based on the color of their skin anymore. Fernando and lance...if you're out there, thanks for the lesson.

"Players must be present at Player's Meeting" is what the flyer said.

I'm there. After the meeting and draw, I'm told my opponent is 20 minutes away.

3 and half hours later, they've played the first 2 rounds and my opponent walks throught the door. The TD says tee it up. My opponent gets pissed off because I won't let him warm up by hitting not a few balls but a few racks.

The top half of the bracket is long gone at midnight and my last match goes off at 3 a.m.

After I win, the TD has the gall to say to me in a stern voice, "Be here at noon or forfeit your match!"

I don't remember my exact words to him but it involved inserting my cue, the balls and the entire pool table somewhere in his anatomy if I was forfeited. LOL

He thought I was rude.

You gotta love it!

I have my own batman bridge head!

I put it my predator Bk cue for one of my matches and pulled it off after done ,well oops there goes the tip!
Won't do that again right!

Next time at a another match!
Put it on house cue smart right !
oops bridge snaps in half!

Why not use house bridge ,I put my finger across bars metal bridge head and like to slice my finger off!
Metal was a cheap molded one that was not filed to take off the edge!
You can imagine the damage this will do to your shaft!

Life is good don't let the bumps piss us off too much!

Think you experence was total BS.

I got ya beat, a few years back I was playing in most every large event I could, one that comes to mind, and it showed the true character of the TD. The event was over 600 miles one way, I knew the TD well (guess I didn't), it was a last minute thing, had to get a friend of mine to join in so we could split the driving and get there in time. I called and asked him first BEFORE WE LEFT if he would do this, "answer" YES, if myself and friend could play but we would be there after the draw and start of play, and "would he schedule us as the last matches of the first round" because I knew we would be able to make it before the end of the first round. I told him we were on our way and he said OK, we even called early that morning to remind him (we were probably 2 hours out at that time). When we got there the first round was still in session, they called our matches and forfeited us putting us in the loosers bracket. If the first round would of been completed and they were ready to start the second round I wouldn't have been angry, but he didn't, his word was no more than LIP MOVEMENT and I've never thought same of the man ever since.

First round I drew C. M. Lee and second round Steve Cook. Then I went to the bar. Johnnyt

Worst tournament experience

I played in a local APA tournament where we had to keep each others score (no volunteer scorekeepers). The match that would have put me "in-the-money" was against a young lady who appeared to have been drinking heavily all day (or maybe that was just an act). She kept f*cking up the score when I was shooting, so besides keeping her score I had to keep an eye on mine to make sure it was correct. The bottom line...I lost the match because I never got my head into the game. If she wasn't drunk, it was a great tactic:rolleyes:

Generally, I carry a slip on plastic bridge head in my cue case to use in case there aren't any house bridges around.

I just purchased one of those Delta-13 racks made of machined aluminum. It was customized with Dragon Promotions logo on it and I purchased it in Jacksonville, Fl at the 2008 Lucasi Hybrid Classic tournament recently. I was going to bring the rack to the pool hall for tournaments only but the autographs by Johnny Archer, Dennis Orcullo (that's how he spells it  ), Thorsten Hohmann, and Charlie Williams make me a little reluctant to do so, only because the autographs are on the inside of the rack and will surely rub off. Oh well, I am not much of an autograph hound and it was just an opportunistic moment in time. The rack was just so dog gone attractive, I had to have one.

BCA Nationals

My BCA womens Masters team won the point this year, which of course was very exciting!!!!! We got 2nd. The two matches we lost in the finals were close.(13-11, 13-10) Very disappointing at the time. But I am happy we did well. We will be back next year. LOL

Hate to say it, but it one of the Florida Pro Tour stops, the one in Melbourne to be exact. They like to load up the pool room with as many players as they can for some reason and can't accommodate the numbers they get. So I was sleeping in the car at 3:30am while Shane was still playing his last match.

If he won he would have had to come back at 10 or 11am, that means going to sleep at maybe 5am and getting up in 3-4 hours. That is AFTER being at the pool room for 14 hours on Saturday in a cramped room full of smoke, if they had a higher ceiling, more tables or capped the field at 64 it would makes things more tolerable.

Nowadays they start the tournaments a day earlier to accommodate more players and it works out nicely but for years it was really rough.

Coco,
Once again, you have started a thread based soley on negetivity. If you let these few minor things ruin your day, why do you even risk a stroke by trying too compete at pool. (most who responded shouldn't either)
We have athelete's competing in the Olympic's, with cancer. Don't you think they might get a chuckle out of your take on "extreme adversity" ?
