would any be interested in helping me.

I have the questions, but I want to revise them before posting so it will be later today that ill have them posted. Thanks again everyone.

cool. thanks sir. I was casually typing, not paying to much attention to this but thanks for pointing it out. Im aware.

It is not a matter of paying attention! It is a matter of knowing.

There are people out there who know and there are those that do not.

Those that do not will never know if you choose the right two to too often or not, hear?

Those that do know will just think you lack a basic skill...which is never a good way to be seen.

See, we care about you. Life is so beautiful.

Thanks again for your insight. I'm well aware of basic English, and common sense. But thanks anyways.

I have everyone I need. Thanks again to everyone. Your help is appreciated to the fullest. Ill post the finished product after I get it back from the professor. have a good day all.

Is this for a writing class or a sociology class? If its for the later, I strongly suggest you read The Sociological Imagination by C. Wright Mills. And dont wiki or google it!

Its for English but I may read that book anyway. Thank you.

I have a feeling that once he posts his paper this will become my favorite thread ever...
:joyful:

Hello. Im a freshman in college and I have a fun paper to write. Its a writing class paper that is in a sociological context.

We must write about a group of people we consider as a sub culture. Ive decided to write about the billiard world. I hope to interview a couple pros and a couple jos. Im not writing a ten page paper but I plan to say alot towards the people and how they conduct themselves and how pool has affected that nature in them.

I'm going with the good side (witch is the majority of the pool world) and reflect on how these groups of people work so hard at something and have so much fun doing it.

So I hope to have a couple volunteers I could possibly interveiw and if anyone would like to add a few words to the thread feel free. My point is to give a large summery from alot of points of veiw. So any and all is appreciated.

The Overall Question is how has pool affected your life and how you conduct yourself everyday? Philosophically in a sense. For the volunteers. I need 2 pros willing to answer about ten questions only. and same to the jos. I need an APA SL 3 And 5.

Ill post my paper on here for all to see when Im finished and post the interview Questions in this thread. I have nothing to offer for doing this but the chance for everyone to criticize the final product. Can be Male or Female of course, for either group.

Hopefully This works out. I swear the interveiw will not be a chore. Thanks to all in advance. Thought it might be cool to use azb as a reference in a school paper.

Aside from the content, and the grammar that was mentioned already, take a look above at what a few paragraphs do to the ease of reading what you wrote.

Believe me, it will be difficult to get a good mark if your teacher has to labor to read through a run-on paper without paragraph breaks.

I'm typing and sending the questions to the participants, and will post them also. This is only one piece of my paper so hopefully its extensive.

I would like to see you take this opportunity to put pool and billiards in a positive light instead of the constant dark, back room gambling view people have of it now.

I'm not telling you how to write but you did ask for suggestions!

Man, I can't believe how many people are giving this guy a hard time about grammar, punctuation, and paragraph formation. He is in school all day, then comes on here to relax. In general we should all try to use proper english all the time, but I am sure he doesn't plan on approaching the paper with the same casual writing he used on here. I also imagine that he doesn't need us teaching him how to write. The poor guy comes on here and very politely asks for some help, and he has had at least 4 posts giving him a hard time about how he types in a forum. I know people only mean well with it, but the point has already been made, and he has already stated that the paper will be written correctly, so lets stop beating the dead horse.

"Oh mantis99, so now you're calling the OP a dead horse?!?"

:p :D

(Sorry, couldn't resist :p )

2. What interested you about pool when you began playing?

3.What is your favorite game within pool?

4. Compared to other games, what stands out in pool to you?

5.Explain the moral value one learns or sees while participating within this culture of people.

6.How has pool affected your life?

7. Does the effort put forth by you in pool show in your everyday life?

8.Overall, describe the kind of people one encounters while playing pool?

9.What, to you , is the most important thing to know, mentally, in the to know about pool.

10. Given the chance and the power to, would you change anything about the game and the people in pool.

good questions

I am really curious how these answers come out.
Could be very interesting.

Good Luck to the OP.

Thanks so much sir. Hopefully I do the world of pool some justice. I think we all agree that pool deserves some replenishing and respect. Thanks again sir.

It is awesome to see someone taking an academic approach to analyzing the subculture of pool players. Lots of posts on this forum rant about "the problem with pool". Basically pool's "problem" is that it is a subculture not accepted by the mainstream society.

I graduated with a degree in sociology. With no good paying career prospects, I went to law school. I still have not figured out if there are more hustlers in the pool room or in the court room. But the pool room certainly offers a welcome break from the daily rat race. You gotta love any subculture that can help keep you sane.

Agreed!

Simpily put... I Agree!

At least hustling in the courtroom is guaranteed to make you some money...unlike hustling in the pooroom (plus there's that upside of not getting your thumbs broken too!).
