If they banned daytime pool in the Philippines, there'd be bloodbath.

If ya'll say it's true then I guess I'll have to take your word for it.... :p

I do not believe Craig has been on since I got home. He was warned this afternoon so it shouldn't be a surprise. :D As you can tell, he was feeling no pain that night...LOL, I think he had a 10 or 11am match the next day though... he was a hurt puppy on that day.

Tom, got anymore pics? Maybe some where there's alcohol involved instead of water???

I wish I could make this collage a permanent signature... LOL

Cheers,

You know that may sound nuts but it was not that long ago in this country it wasn't much better. Florida used to have a law that a minor could not enter a place where pool was played. You had to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, I am talking 21. A 20 year old had to take his father with him to go an play pool.

They had some additions that if they had a notarized card on file from the parent you could come in. And let me tell you, the cops would come in and make you go through the cards and account for every minor in the place that's how bad the reputation for pool rooms were. Many cities would ban them all together if not specifically by passing regulations that made it all but impossible for a pool room to operate. many places still won't allow alcohol to be served in pool rooms.

I was one of the people responsible for getting the Florida law thrown out. Our lawyer used a discrimination argument based on bowling allies. In a bowling alley you could have mixed drinks served right to you on the lanes as you bowled with you kid but walk 50 feet down the lanes and enter the billiard area it all changed. It went to the Florida supreme court and they not only changed the beverage section on the law, they threw out the whole thing leaving it up to local cities and counties to decide for themselves. the first time I bought a pool room when I mentioned to my CPA that I was buying a pool room he said, " Aren't you afraid of owning something like that, what are you going to do about the fights and what if people come in with guns"? My accountant was not a stupid man, but he knew nothing about pool and pool rooms and this was honestly what he thought.

Another time I bought out a bowling alley and had 12 gold crowns in my warehouse. Next thing I know I rented a place and was going to open a small room. I rented the place through an agent. A few days later he calls me and tells me the deal is off, the owners won't rent to a pool room. That's the way it is, you may be surprised how much of the public sees pool, they believe every stereotype out there.
Beretta always looked for the bad guys in the pool room and the one he played at had nothing but thug's and pimps, this is what the public sees and it hasn't changed.

heading to Africa soon...

I've been retained to teach pool to a bunch of kids in Nigeria, for three days, in about 3 weeks. It will be interesting to see what pool is like there! It's not Uganda, but it's not far off! Should be an interesting trip, to say the least!:D

i was playing pool once and the sun was in everyones eyes( yes i do play in the day sometimes). i asked to closed the shades and the owner said if the shades are closed the cops come in and shut us down. i kid you not. also if this room was open a min past 2am the cops would show up and make em close right then. keep in mind we have neevr had a problem there before.

Tom's pic is obviously photoshop. 1x1 has never had a sip of water in his life.

I believe that minors were not allowed in pool halls in Canada not that long ago either. Of course I'm old enough to remember drinking in bars that had two entrances, the Main entrance and the Women and Escorts entrance :)

As some comfort to our Ugandan friends, a long time ago in Scotland they banned playing golf on Sundays. The game survived.
