WOW who is this person?

NM not worth the ink 'so to speak'
Let's make it "worth the ink".

The deadline for player contributions to the AZ-1 room was "mid-Dec" to which I followed up with "Dec 15th" and then extended to Dec 18th with numerous threads.

Fast forward to 11:56 PM on Dec 26th....

I know i know im late! :D
But would love to get on the
players list for the week.
any way i can get you 25.00
and get in? If you say yep'ers!
then ill find ya and remind you im
swami and drop ya a Q, let me know thanks
have a great time!

To which I politely responded with...

Too late, sorry! Come find me at Derby... I'll be working the InsidePOOL booth most of the time. We're discussing doing something to allow the late comers to join in as players... nothing is set in stone yet but I'll know by the time I get there. (Please do not mention this on here since we don't know for sure) If we do decide to do something to allow more players, I'll know then, so come find me.

Apparently, politely being told that they were too late but possibly still having a chance to partake wasn't enough for this member of 44 posts (someone that I & very few, if any, actually know)...

swami4u said:
hum sure would like to know before i driv all the way out there. why cant i come drop you 25.00 before i go in the room, then we be all square? list me now
and you have my word ill get ya the 25.00 day one.
and i will even take a night shift room watch for ya in ood faith your pick! let me know

Naturally (after all that has been said about this, I would assume that my reaction was fairly natural) my reaction was...

Because we need the money to pay for the room BEFORE Derby.

Mailing out a check now, will also not work because it's Dec 27th and the EXTENDED deadline to have the money mailed out was Dec 18th. Between the raffle and accepting the player contributions, I've been working on this for 8 months. I have a personal life that is FULL of things that must be done prior to the DCC... I have a full time job that is extremely busy right now, a car that was totaled in a wreck one month ago, a fractured right thumb that's braced & useless (I'm right handed), a court date for said wreck on Jan 2nd that I've yet to be able to prepare for, New yrs eve plans, packing for the DCC, and getting everything in order at work to be able to leave at 11:00AM on Jan 5th to go catch my flight to the DCC.

All of the above & a couple of more things that I didn't mention are why you cannot pay me now or at the venue. If you want to know more about WHY you can't pay now or there, please go read the threads in the DCC forum... all the info along with they "Why's" are there.

I was trying to be nice and entrusted the fact that we MIGHT do something to allow the late comers to join as players. As stated before, we have not decided which is why I cannot tell you now. If your trip to the DCC is contingent on your being able to be a player in AZB-1P room then all I can tell you is at this point, don't make the trip.

To which they said...
swami4u said:
WOW wtf is that all about, have a marry new years.
go get some sleep!
BTW you can see even though you really pissed me off, i didnt tell anyone about your plans to allow last minute jo's like me. im cool like that. even though
you deserved 0 respect from me

I tried to respond but their PM box is full, so swami, here is my response...
Timberly said:
Then we're even because IMO you desrerve 0 respect for not only NOT educating yourself by reading the threads pertaining to the room that have been posted for months now, but for completely ignoring the fact that I politely told you in my first respsonse that you were too late. Your response to my politeness was to insist that I change the rules for you and question me.

LOL, if you feel the need to "'get back at me" by posting that we MIGHT work something out at the DCC for the late comers to be able to play... knock yourself out. Whatever talks might've been in the works to make this happen... they'll cease and there will definitely not be anything of the sort. Doesn't hurt me one bit... just less work I have to do while I'm there.

So, "last minute jo" now you know one of the reason's I will not DONATE 8 MONTHS OF MY LIFE, TIME, & ENERGY to helping make sure this room happens next yr.

Williebetmore, you're a saint and I don't have nearly the patience that you do. I'm honored that you asked me to join the organizing committe and I hope that with the raffle I was able to do you proud. I just don't have the time or energy for stuff like this and the other BS I've endured from un-named people for this. I agreed to do this because I genuinely wanted to HELP and be a contributing member. I quit playing pool so long ago that I 2nd guess everything I do so I've never been comfortable contributing in a teaching manner to this forum. My way of making up for that was by doing live updates when possible and providing what little inside info I might have to certain questions about certain players and/or pool world happenings.

Some of these people have really jaded me and I've simply no desire to put forth the energy to be helpful and informative. My integrity and intentions have been questioned. I'm as genuine and honest as I know how to be (to the point of being "brutally honest" to where I'm on "strike 2") and it still doesn't matter.

I'll leave names out of this but there's more than a few that do not appreciate my honesty and would rather not see me here. They win... I will continue to give a 110% plus towards the room but after that my participation will be sparse. I'm giving up too much of my time that I do not have to do this, or to be treated the way that I have. I have other interests in life that I can focus on that will not attack my character and give me the hard time that some here have.

(For one of said un-named people)... Timberly <--- flat out, all in, no denying it, complaining.

well you learned one thing this year

Well you learned one thing this year, if you ever do it again make the deadline December the first with no ifs buts or maybes. Seven months or eight doesn't really matter. I'd like to come myself but I knew early on that it conflicts with some things locally that just aren't optional. Maybe next year . . .

Easier said than done but don't let the actions of a few sour you on the group. There is a small but very active percentage of people that are here just to entertain themselves stirring the pot anywhere they can.

The deadline this yr was no if's, ands, buts, or maybes'. Didn't matter... people either didn't read the threads or did but figured they could get preferential treatment.

No worries about one thing... they don't have to worry about me doing it next yr or any other yr. I learned my lesson... I enjoyed what I did and the new people that I met. I just won't interrupt my life, esp during the holidays to be misjudged and ridiculed. First time, shame on you... second time, shame on me.... not going to be a second time. ;)

Timberly, I hope that when you get to Derby City, you enjoy yourself immensely and take pride in what you helped create.

T-girl,
You shouldn't let it get to you, it's just par for the course. The vast majority of players who are interested will be there, and will follow the rules.

For everyone's edification, let me re-state - our room expenses are paid for IN ADVANCE, NOT AFTER THE DCC IS OVER. Last year MULTIPLE members signed up, asked to pay at the venue, then NEVER DID. NONE of this years organizers is interested in chasing down members at the venue for cash - we would all rather enjoy the festivities.

I anticipate the "pre-payment rule" will be in effect next year as well, so keep an eye out for info as it is posted.

The organizers should feel totally free to make exceptions for people well known to be honorable in their dealings, personal friends, people with a really good "sob story", and mafiosi (hey, we don't want to antagonize anyone who is connected). Such exceptions are a privilege, not a right; and require a bit of effort on the part of the individual organizer (hey, it's really a personal loan).

Despite all of the hassle, I will definitely do it again next year; and consider it my personal quest to convince Timberly to do it again (perhaps we must ply her with liquor).

P.S. - Remember that EVERYONE is welcome to hang out in the room and socialize (railbird status); only players needed to send in cash. People who are sincere about participating will spend some time there whether they play or not.

Timberly, you did a great job, don't let a few ruin your good time... See you at the tournament. Earl Timmons

I'll apoligize for him

I haven't met nor do I know either poster in this issue but one thing is clear.

Timberly does alot for the sport I enjoy so much plus for the many players of the game. I would hope to see that after the event is completed and she see's how much the individuals who chose to participate in a timely manner enjoy the fruits of her labor she will change her mind. I hope you accept an apology from one of the viewing public on behalf of this rude person rather he agrees or not. I hope to participate next year as this year would be difficult. I hope the opportunity is still there.

KEEP SMILE'N

Im quite sure your working hard on this. I respect that its hard work.
And i dont know you, so maybe this is the problem. But after reading
the way you responded to my pm offering to pre pay you, and donate
my time to help out, i feel like you were talking to me in a smart ass tone.
And im not one to be talked to like a nit......Belive that.

So go too the DCC have a ball and enjoy what you helped launch.
Maybe in the future try to be a little more pleasent with people
that offer thier time to help, with something like

"thanks for your offer to help, but i think where ok right now, but your welcome to come hang out have a beer. ect ect"
Life is just better when you treat people with respect.
God bless and have a great DCC

For what it's worth, I thought that I was nice and polite in my response.

You disrespected me by completely ignoring that I politely said that it was too late and by asking why you couldn't just give me the money there.

I'm only replying to this because you insinuated that I wasn't pleasant to you right from the get go and I was.

Have a nice day.

Timberly--sounds like you did a fine job. Hopefully you will let me buy you a beer this year.

FWIW, this swami, even though he is offering his time to watch over the room, sounds selfish in that he is wasting your time asking for an exemption to the deadline date that has been advertised for 6 months. You snooze, you lose.

WillieBetMore probably won't like me telling this but last year I snoozed because I wasn't sure I was going to go until the last minute. I sent Willie a PM and asked for a pardon & a promise to pay for me & Justin when we got there. Willie was nice enough to take care of us & I surely paid as soon as I arrived. Justin/I weren't able to take advantage of the room do to another circumstance but I was happy that Willie went out of his way for a stranger. Obviously, he did so for others and got bitten. In business (& life) if you let the customer f*** you, he will. Sounds like Willie/Timberly wanted to take this option of getting f***ed out of the equation & smartly issued a deadline. I don't see how anyone could think of no matter what they offered could now be above this rule. If you met Willie/Timberly you would know that it is not the $$$, it is about respect for them for doing a job no one else wanted to do.

I'll be sure to stop by & say 'Hi' but this year I chose not to be a 'member' because again I didn't know until last week if I was going to attend at all. Plus, I still can't draw my ball so I wouldn't want to embarrass myself on a pool table in front of champions. I'll see if I can find a few friends that are good at drawing their ball to come by & pay a visit.

What a difference a year makes. ;) We've gotten each other quite riled up in the past, to the point that I told you I wouldn't want a beer from you if you did offer it.

Thanks for the kind words in your post. Yes, I'll let you buy me a beer this yr. :)

Not only did I snooze last year. I wasn't even aware of the donation. But I found myself welcome in the AZ room (thank you all) and I did not hit a ball (scouts honor). This year I will. Where's that guy who said he wants to play me?

What a difference a year makes. I made a zillion posts, met some old friends, and made some new friends, and managed to piss off one TD and one self described Zen master. All in all a good year on AZ.

What a coincidence... ME TOO!!! :p

Jay, how about we make sure neither one of us leaves the DCC without having met this yr? ;)

Ok, I was a snoozer last year but stepped to the plate this year and became part of the AZ room. And to swami4u I hope you don't miss the boat next year and make it to the room. Derby City is AWESOME!!!!!!! And I hope that you realize the strain you were putting on Timberly to get you in after the deadline. This girl works hard just keeping up with the deadline.

Timberly, if any of my pm's left you in disgust I'm sorry and would really like to buy you a cold one. If they didn't I would really like to buy you a cold one anyway. What do you say?

With all of these offers to buy Timberly beer she is likely to be the drunkest chick at Derby.:D

Enjoy.....

Your PM's were not a problem at all. You were simply letting me know to be on the look out. I appreciate your offer and would be more than happy to accept a beer, thank you. ;)

Timberly <--- not one to turn down a free beer :D
