WPBA San Diego Classic Update

My friend who I came with, Eleanor Callado, won both of her matches today! She beat Tracie Hines 9 to 6 in the first round. In the second round, she played Helena Thornfeldt. El was up 8-6, and Helena made two really good outs to make it case game. El broke case game. She made 3 balls with the one ball near the corner pocket. She ran out from there and didn't give Helena any shots to win the match.

Any report on Sarah ROusey

Sarah Rousey lost to Gerda 9-7.

Kelly Fisher beat Jasmin Ouschan 9-7

edit: Looks like Jeanette lee will be playing Jasmin Ouschan in the 1 loss side.. that would be an interesting match to see.

I'm betting Xiaoting Pan will do well in this tourney after not being able to play in Taiwan. Probably wanting some sort of revenge :p

Wow, some very interesting changes, I had no idea that Karen Corr had dropped to 4th overall? I thought she had a pretty good year, winning the BCA and I think at least one other event?

A nice two match win to start for my pal Ca-pow, go girl!

That was a tough draw for Debbie Schjodt in the first round (Jasmin Ouschan) - but it looks as though Debbie fought tough, finally falling 9-7 - and that battle must have taken something out of Jasmin as she fell to Kelly "Just call me Miss San Diego" Fisher in the second round by the same score.

I really believe that every time Kelly Fisher goes to San Diego, everything falls into place for her. It must be the ocean air, the atmosphere, it's something - but she is virtually unbeatable and unstoppable in that city.

I hope she does well again this this year - she really deserves all of this success - it's all because of hard work and determination to be the best at what she does.

Go get 'em Kelly!

Hello everyone,

I can say there were some good matches in the early rounds (like you hadn't all already noticed). I was the last match to start so I got to watch most of them.

Jasmin and Kelly was a back and forth match pretty much the whole way. Jasmin pulled ahead 7-5 and made a jump shot on the 7 but scratched. After that, Kelly took control and won 9-7.

Line and Jennifer Chen waited on that match and you could kind of tell the time got to them. Line was ahead 3-1 but then Jennifer really turned it on and played well from there. I can't remember the final score.

As usual, Allison is in Allison form and rolling through everyone. She is playing really well. Karen is the same, playing really well. Ga Young and Xiao-ting are also playing well. Pan's match got over pretty quick so I didn't catch any of it.

My match with Gerda was kind of ugly. Neither of us played great. I can say that I know I made way too many costly mistakes and paid for them. The final score was 9-7.

I have to give a congrats so far to Eleanor Callado who is playing great and showed what she is made of by breaking and running out hill-hill against Helena. And Caroline Pao who is also having a great tournament so far. Both are really great people so it's great to see them doing well.

The losers bracket is going to be very interesting. Many of the top players are clustered together. Obviously this means some of them have to lose. Keeping the new ranking system in mind...there will be a shake-up.

As for me, I'm being lazy today so I'm not sure if I am going to watch matches during the day or not. I'll try to remember whats going on and give updates but for those of you who know me know my memory is a little iffy. :)

Yobagua...wish you could have made it down. Not too often you can catch the girls playing.

Sarah

My-Hanh Lac. And I believe she plays out of Maryland...

I am wrong about Forida. You are correct- she is from Maryland/washington DC area.

My-Hanh Lac plays out of northern Virginia. She went down to Florida recently for the Regional Tour playoff tournament.

My-Hanh won the Tiger Pool Tour points list last year which qualified her to play in the WPBA events this year. What a thrill to beat Jeanette and Jasmin back-to-back! Keep it going!

There doing a bang up job of reporting this first stop. Like Sarah stated, it's three hours difference to the East Coast plus the matches aren't starting on time. Seems like a few players need to go on a shot clock. It's not fair for the players waiting for the table do be standing around waiting an hour. Johnnyt
