WPBA San Diego Classic Update

bracket mistake

WPBA website shows Gerda beating Kelly by score of 9 to 6, but has Kelly moved over to play Kim in the final four.

nO IT IS SINGLE elimination on the last 16- 3 time winner Kelly F is out. tomorrow its kim, Gerda,Allie and K-wren,

bracket

I know it is single elimination. I was pointing out they had the wrong person moved over.

I was at Viejas friday and saturday and didn't get to see as much pool as I would have liked, lol (but more of the bar). Rasberry cheesecake, Melissa Morris? :D

Lac has an impressive game and probably the best break on tour. Look out for her in the future for sure!

It was nice to see Caroline Pao with her first top 16 finish. Congratulations to one of the nicest girls around:) .

I was happy to see Michelle Rakin playing in this tournament. We hadn't seen each other since Reno 5-6 years ago. I'm impressed with not only Michelle's game, but with her as a person. She would make a great representative for pool.

I hate going to the single Elm. at 16, but I hate cutting the races to 7 from 9 just as much. If anything they should be race to 11. I know, I know, it's cut back for TV. By the time it get's on TV everyone knows who won. There is not a bit of drama in it by TV time.

Your opponent snaps a nine in the first game and gets lucky rolls in the 2nd and 3rd games and your finished for the most part in a race to 7 with alt. break. Johnnyt

Hi Anne,
Sorry for the criticism. My-Hanh is a good friend and I play with her often. I'm so glad to see her breaking through. Please keep updating and ignore jerks like me :)

Can you say how it is that Lac is able to compete at this high level? She seems to be very savy and is being helped by Mentors that traveled with her (did you ?). Since I don't know what great women play in D.C., I have to guess that she plays boys/men - which is good for her game.

She is very under control like ice; does that come from gambling? Will we see her more in the future? Will she continue with the WPBA because she has backers?

In a world of the same o' same oh it was a treat for us on the West Coast to see Lac and the other up and comers.

I've heard this before, but I don't understand why a race to 7 is better for TV than a race to 9 or 11. They invariably cut out certain racks, or just show highlights, so if they edit it properly they should be able to cover it and make it flow without issue, within any time frame they choose.

If it were live (the way it should be), that would be a different story.

I agree. Also if they went to live matches that would mean that it had a following. In that case TV wouldn't mind putting on one match for each semi and one for the final in a time period between 11 am. and 11 pm. Johnnyt

I think I am Michelle Rakin's newest fan. I never seen her before but she played real well against Ewa Laurence, beating her 9-2 (I think). I look forward to seeing her again sometime. She doesn't waste any time thinking about her shots. She just shoots 'em straight and does it often. Kinda exciting player to watch!

Gerda has gotten revenge over GY Kim with a 7-6 win. It's nice to see Gerda back in the finals of an event. I would love to see her pull this one off.

She does play an extrtemely smart game. She learns real fast and enjoys passing on knowledge. She helped one Wpba Pro with her break at least a year before she herself played in her first event.

She is not being helped by anyone more than casually. I think I know who you are talking about and he barely can play-just a friend.

Brackets are reporting that Allison has won, 7-4, over Gerda. Congrats on another win for Allison and to Gerda for making the final table.

I just read the match reports on wpba.com. Apparently, the final easily could've been Karen vs. Ga Young. Karen missed the 8 ball at 6-6, and GY was up 5-2 and 6-4, but made some mistakes (didn't she have a lead and lose it to Kelly Fisher at Nationals last year?).
