I know I said this last night but I'm gonna say it again. This wouldn't have been half as much fun without all you fellow AZBer's.

It's been a great week (especially if you're English!) & I thank you all. I couldn't be in better company.
Believe me when i say the feeling is mutual, congrats to Daryl and to England on their first world champion. Daryl is a gentleman and a true asset to the game.

That is the most impressive kicking and safety I have ever seen by one guy in a match. Mr Peach gave himself the best chance to win every single game and he deserves the championship. It seemed like every single time he plays safe it had perfect speed and everytime he kicks Gomez was safed again. I was thinking Gomez would win but when I started watching Peach play I was so impressed that I switched sides. That is just too good.

Now this is over I'll be able to start looking at other threads again! It has been somewhat time consuming!

great win for Daryl he's one of the nicest people you can meet so it couldn't of happened to a better person i'm just so glad for him.

Gomez had the match all but won, but he missed an easy shot, I think on the 6ball. He just needed to stop the cueball, and he jumped way up before contact and missed. Man that is torture at it's worst. He will never forget that.

How about the miss on the thin cut on the 9 when the score's 15-15? He will have an even harder time forgetting that. Hope he takes it as a positive experience and come back with more super play next year. Wonder will that be held in Manila as well?

I just PM'd my team captain to let him know the result. Maybe now he'll believe that some of us Englishmen can play this game!:D

I'm sure there were a few people out there that bet $100 or so on Daryl before the tournament started, just for the heck of it, and are feeling pretty happy now!

Wish I was one of them!

Congrats to Mr. Peach. Gomez may have buckled under pressure on his last few shots, but I believe Daryl's safety game won the match for him. I sure hope Gomez doesn't let this loss destroy him. Second place in the WPC is something to be proud of! If anything, instead of destroying his confidence, it should show him that he IS capable of winning it. If he had Daryl's concentration, he would be unstoppable. So, again, congratulations to Mr. Peach and Mr. Gomez on their finishes and thanks for giving me one of the most exciting pool viewing experiences I ever had.

Spot on! This is something Gomez can use to build on, it really should give him a lot of confidence, which it looks like he needs. He certainly has nothing to be ashamed of. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of him in the future.

Sorry to say this, but it was ugly out there. Both players succumbed to the pressure at times. But Gomez' was the worst case of nerves I've seen in a final in many years. He got a case of lockjaw of the arm. It's happened to all of us before. I feel bad for him because I know he is sick right now.

Darryl held up a little better under the pressure. That was the diference.

Technically that was his biggest miss of the match. But to me, it was the 6ball when he was at 15, and Daryl was either even or just a game or two behind. That was what lost the match for Gomez.

After he missed that straight in ball, I think he gave up. I saw his face and he was tearing up, breathing heavily. What I saw in him when they zoomed in on his face after that, was that he had more fear in missing another shot, than he had in desire to win. It really seemed like he didn't even want to get back to the table unless he had a hanger. Man I feel bad for him. If the crowd could have calmed down he could have pulled it off, IMO.
