Yang Ching-Shun (9-5)and Antonio Gabica (9-3) along the way.
Japan's Kenichi Uchigaki (2nd Q), also came out on top of his group while
giving up 5 games total to his 2 hapless opponents. He beat Efren Reyes
(9-2)and Alain Martel (9-3).
Ko Pin-Yi (3rd Q-TPE)) made short work of Thorsten Hohmann (9-3)![]()
and Serge Das (9-3) to topped his group too.
Wu Yu-Lun (4th Q-TPE) won over Johnny Archer, lost to countryman
Lee Kun-Fang (8-9) and won his "one and done" match against Murat Ayas
(9-1) to advance.
Alwi from Indonesia (5th Q) lost both his matches against Chang Jun-Lin
(6-9) and Chan Keng-Kwang (5-9) to finish his WPC campaign on a sour note.
Leonardo Andam (6th Q-PHI) sailed thru through the next round with twin
victories against Ralf Souquet (9-5) and Raj Hundal (9-8).
Roberto Gomez (7th Q-PHI) was last seen cruising as he waylaid Niels Feijen
(9-6) and D. Singh Lilly (9-4) and got his ticket to the big dance.
Chang Yau-Mau (8th Q-TPE) bombed out but not before giving SVB all he
could handle in a hill-hill match. Chang was way out in front (7-2) before
SVB caught another gear. Chang lost another double hill match against
Wojciech Trajdos to end his campaign with a whimper.
Dang Jinhu (9th Q-CHN) won his initial match with Kazuo Furuta (9-3) but
lost the next 2, as Nick Van Den Berg brought him back to earth (3-9) and
Chan Keng-Kwang finished him off (4-9).
Chu Hung-Ming (10th Q-TPE) started out with a win against Craig Osborne
(9-8) but lost his next 2. He lost to Luong Chi Dong (6-9) and a hill-hill
do-or-die match with Radoslaw Babica.
Overall, the qualifiers record is a decent 60% (6-4) with most of them
topping their respective groups. That's how tough the Qualifiers are for the
greatest show on earth!
JohnPT said:Why is SVB not on TV? Its because beyond pool junkies who follow pool happenings in the US, SVB is somewhat of an unknown. Remember the odds on SVB not too long ago 40-1? Earl is on TV because his many World championships and US open titles have earned him this spot and certainly not his attitude. His antics though will undo all this, unfortunately.

Earl was a great champion for a long time, but I think now he may need some Prozac...
I bet if he got his mind right, he could play great pool again......
