You can get a custom to your specs from a lot custom cuebuilders if you don't fancy the cue up with inlays, exotic wraps, ivory etc. Options could be a plain jane of Cocobolo, Tulipwood, Purple Heart, etc with a linen wrap, one shaft, nice ring work.

Kind of depends on how much of a hurry your in. This forum is chalked full of cue sellers and builders. 500$ will get you a very serviceable cue. Or you could get a Blue Book and start learning about who makes them and how to evaluate them. Then ebay can get you a 1500$ cue for 500$. Pay attention to the feedback on Ebay or ask for a trusted builder on AZ. Mr. Madden has already responded to your thread and is one of the good ones. The list goes on. Don

i saw a nice troy downey here a while ago for under that. or do you mean you want it built especially for you

im not in a hurry but not too patient too for a long custom one of a kind cue (doubt i can get anything for 500). so i guess my answer is not one of a kind cue.

I always recommend BCM in that price range. Can't go wrong with Jack Madden either. I haven't tried an Esperito but I'm pretty sure one can be had for that kind of money if you prefer that style of cue.

The vintage Brunswick Tru-Balance conversions by Ariel Carmeli at my site are an excellent cue value. Everyone who has bought one has said they were very pleased. You'll have mucho dinero left too for a nice case, table time, etc.!
