I'd suggest that you checkout Ebay for McDermotts or Adam cues....another good option is to buy a Player Sneaky Pete from one of the dealers here >>> http://azbilliards.com/ or other online retail store

well to the one making nasty comments... thanks sorry i dont have thousands to throw around...

i have a players G2222
a viper which i had help upgrading so that its along the same style as the players
a bunjee jump/break
as for bar cues thats what i started out with and as i get better i upgrade my cue and im going to be making B team by the end of the semester

and i look through ebay and stuff and craigslist but it almost always ends in dead ends you know?

and im from sam houston state i was at the one at Texas A&M a few weeks ago i did not do to bad for my first tournament what college are you out of?

my suggesting is to save a bit and buy decent custom cue in 250-300$ range
dont buy anything in 100$ range, you already have cue from that range- another one would not make a difference in your game

Production or Custom cues

Hey bud,

I recommanded you to look at Lucasi and Fury production cues and if you want to invest a litle bit more, go with a Rat Cue Cue with a nice maple shaft, they play great.

Talk to Ryan at Mueller Billaird Equipment.

^^^^ This is my vote.

Hey man.
I shoot with customs normally in the 300-500 range.
I'm in college too, fortunate enough to work at a pool hall and trade pool cues.

That being said... Fury completely overhauled their cues and I think are one of the best production cues out there for anything less than 300.

I shot with one for a few months while I was swapping some cues around.
I sold it to a guy on a APA team. I still walk over and "steal" it from him to shoot a few racks once in a while. Those things play jam up.

That aside, I wouldn't buy a new cue just to buy it. If you feel comfortable with what you have now, play with it, save some funds and buy something later on. For the money, it's still hard beating a decent Player's sneaky pete. Play around with the weighting, put a good tip on, and have a local cue-maker throw some joint collars on.

Jim Baxter is also a good guy on here. He makes some sneakys for around 125. PM him. He might run across this thread anyway.

Good luck.

Go to ozone or seyberts and look at players cues and get a tip upgrade. That or Jim baxters cues are the best you'll find in that range.

I have the Star X2 made by McDermott for $75 (shipped). The hit is surprisingly good.
I also have both Fury and Players cues. Don't let anyone talk you out of these brands if you are on a budget.
If you stretch you budget to about $150, I can put you into a Lucasi cue as well.
Please PM me with any questions.

MAybe you could get a new shaft for your existing butt. Jim Baxters barn finds are a great deal. I have had 2 of them. Play great and a great price if he has any left. I also used a sterling cur for a while, get a milkdud or breakdown and get a moori med. or Kamui tip and will play decent. I have lots of people try my cues and some like em. some don't. Try some local cues and see what you like. I like a radial pin, but really if I was blind folded and had to pick wood to wood over steel joint, not sure I woiuld bet money on my ability to tell the difference. Tip is more important than shaft being straight in my opinion. Good luck, John

Speaking of Fury cues, I have this one available. This is a real nice lightly used cue that plays and hits like a much more expensive cue. I'll sell it to you for - MSRP $195 internet price new is $156.
