I would suggest you make your own as well. As simple as boring a hole in some delrin(you will want spare delrin laying around anyway).
I gave up on using my shaft split collets. I always had to fiddle with them to get the shaft to turn with no run out. spin the shaft in the collet or spin the collet ... etc
I use a 1 in by 3 inch piece of .020 plastic shim stock. I find it much more accurate. I just wrap it around the shaft and pinch the ends together and hang it out between the chuck jaws....I use a hightower lathe...

Eventually, you will be doing things more complicated than boring a hole to size and making a shoulder on an ID.
Do yourself a favor and make your own, for about .10 and a few minute investment.
If you don't have the tools, let me know exactly what sizes you want and I'll make you what you need for the price of shipping.
I bought a couple of rods of UMHW and made some. UMHW is very supple and bendable.
Once you see how easy it is, you'll be glad that you didn't spend $50 on a set.
Just look at the set on EBay to give yourself and idea of how to make a shoulder. They can be approx one inch long.
