WTB : Searing Cue

Searing

I am not completely in the dark when it comes to a good playing cue. Everyone knows what they like, but what is it about the hit of a Searing that makes it so great? Does it have like no cue ball deflection or what? In your opinion, what makes it stand out? Thanks.

That's the point for me, I don't know how they hit but the cues are legendary. Nobody seems to be walking into Hollywood Billiards with one for me to try so I thought I'd check w/ AZ on buying one in order to see/play it.

OK, sorry. So, you want a $2,500 Hercek and a $2,500 Searing.
$5,000 can buy you one really nice Hercek or Searing.

Does that mean you don't think I can get what I want for what I want here? You've read the threads, not all have been so negative.

A good and fair question, sir...and I wish I could explain it.

I'm no world beater on the tables...Lord knows. I DO know a thing or two about cues, though...and have probably owned more than any 50 people have a right to over the past few years. Most of those cues were bought in the hopes that they may be "The One." Once I figured out that they weren't "The One," I sold them.

My Searing cue is "The One." I knew it within minutes of putting it together to hit some balls around. The fit is there. The finish is there. The balance is there. The detail work is there. The PERFECT "hit" is there. Granted, how a cue plays is completely subjective...but I have yet to know, talk to, or hear of a Searing Cue owner that didn't absolutely love their cue(s). I don't know what kind of magic fairy dust Dennis uses during the build of each cue...but without a doubt, he makes one of the very best playing cues in existence.

This is not to say that there aren't plenty of other cuemakers out there who make a phenomenal cue. I've owned some VERY fine cues made from some VERY fine gentlemen...with exceptional quality and playability. To each their own, and I'm certain there are plenty of folks out there who will live full and happy lives without a Searing in their case.

Not much help, I know...just my opinion as a proud owner of one.

well i did sell a Searing conversion for substantally less than $2.5k, around a year ago, so its not impossible.. havent seen Herceks go so cheap though, $3-4k for a basic 4 pt 4 veneers is just about right. I have owned serveral of these and either will be excellent choices. If you can buy either(non-conversion) for less than $3k, its a good deal.

on another note, i will be in possession of a 70's Gina real soon, my first Gina :D

Well said my friend! And I can't wait to hit a few balls with it!

Good Luck with your search Kevin! If you are able to get your hands on one for your price, I look forward to reading your review.

Chris <~~~~ very happy with his Sugar but would love to add a Searing

Russ

Nope. My current interim Lifetime Player will last me forever or until Ernie finishes my new Lifetime Player, whichever comes first.

Kevin

Whenever you wanna purchase a cue other than a Gina, you would indirectly send "shockwaves" down this channel of people within the Azb community. So you get everyone here so hyped up with your so called cue migration which in actual fact you are just trying to satisfy that sense of curiousity in you.

the hit is just amazing.....i think it is a combination of several things but what really stood out to me was the shaft...low deflection and super fine balance it just feels right....the cue i was hitting with was a conversion duffrein cue that he did sometime ago...but all i can say is that it was like the cue was in automatic...i will own one someday....the cue sold for a shade over 2500 but i think it was worth it for the owner...gl with your search kevin.......mickey carroll

It's possible with some patience and luck. I have seen Searing cues for less than $2.5K. I haven't seen a standard Hercek for that much yet. This is a cue buyers market though, you never know what you might find.

Good Luck.

Kevin,

I'll walk into HB someday with my new Searing, but it won't be for a few years. I confirmed with DS this AM that I am on the list, just don't know how long it will be.

Good luck in your search buddy,

Russ....

Stop yelling

OK OK OK. Stop yelling.

I want a Searing cue with a signed Searing forearm, 2 Searing shafts in original or Searing refinished condition and I'll step all the way up to 3K.

Thanks again

Hey I've been a big Tad advocate here lately and I've got another one coming!

Thanks and Happy New Year (although I'm guessing that maybe you celebrate a different date?).

But yes, you are right. I just want to hit a Searing, to try to understand.

Searing is clearly the most cerebral cue maker I have ever spoken with and I want to experience his product (I'm on his list but please I'll be playing golf or something by then). Whatever Searing I get, I'll hit some with, show it to my pals, gas about it for awhile and then sell it off on eBay (I'm no collector).

Kevin

WOW,

Now I'm stumped...

I thought I had my mind made up...to buy a Black Boar...

but, after reading all of this...now I want a Searing...

It's killing me...How do you decide...???
