Just getting into playing straight pool and I would like to get a copy of Mike Siegel's instructional video. I believe he runs 100+ balls while talking through the shot selections. Can also trade for some good Accu-stat matches or I have a Kinister DVD I'd trade for as well. Thanks.

I think you're looking for the Accu-Stats video featuring Jim Rempe. Mike Sigel ran 150 and out against Mike Zuglan in an AS match, but he's never run 100 on video instructional. Jim did 2 videos - how to run a rack in Straight Pool, and how to run 100 in Straight Pool. I don't see either on the Accu-Stats website anymore.

sigel did run 100 on an instructional tape

Sure he did indeed! :D

sigel videos

Sigel did two old instructional videos.

Perfect Pool and Run Out Pool. Each of the videos covered 8 ball, 9 ball and 14.1.

In the Run Out vid, he ran 105 while explaining what he was doing.

In the Perfect Pool 14.1 section, he went over common break shots, caroms, and other principles behind running balls in 14.1.

I took both 14.1 sections and put them together on a dvd. Perfect straight and run out straight.

If you haven't seen Rempe's videos, I highly recommend those as well.

Yes, the two Rempe videos on straight pool are also quite good.

Hey, Rex-

I have a lot of straight pool videos, (mostly VHS) including the Sigel 150 and out, Efren running 141, both of Jim Rempes instructionals, Mike Zuglan running 148, and many others. If you want to come down to Crown Billiards sometime, let me know and I will lend you a few at a time if you like.

I know this is a oldie, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents for what its worth...

The best advice I was ever given in regards to watching/learning position or other play (goes double for masse' & break and or trick shots) from videos or in person for that matter is: IF your are right handed, do not try to emulate Mike Sigel/Steve Mizerak position (et.al.) play as they are left-handers...
You will be making it harder on yourself...

After being the youngest active player ever inducted into the hall of fame (like age 34-35 ish) Mike Sigel did in fact do the following videos back in 91/92ish...

  • Run Out Straight Pool (runs roughly 100 plus balls while talking through it)
  • Run Out 8-Ball (runs roughly some 10 racks while talking through it)
  • Run Out 9-Ball (ditto)
  • Perfect 8-Ball
  • Perfect 9-Ball
  • Perfect Straight Pool

All were produced by Joss Cues one of his sponsors...

The perfect * ... series was intended to be watched first; as he continually referred to them in the run-out * ... series...

The Joss-Sigel series was generally done in such a way IMHO that Mike Being a left-hander did not skew the info provided...

Unless an individual is genuinely ambidextrous I would avoid watching the Mizerak/Sigel and other great lefties actual matches for the purpose of gleaning position play tips, etc...

Lastly, if you have ever been slugged, or soft-breaked in 8-ball... and you do not want to play a marathon safety battle, waiting for the other guy to break up the rack and leave you a shot...

Take charge and Learn straight-pool break shots, strategy, etc., like Mike goes into great detail on in these videos...

Just remember, he is primarily giving preference to south-paw sides of the rack... so you have to invert those if you are a righty...
