WWYD to run out? You have ball in hand. It's hill-hill on a local action challenge that is streamed. 4.5" pockets tight gold crown. Players are 659 and 681.

3 in the lower right. Cue ball one rail towards middle for 4 in same pocket with a slight cut to the left. Draw across one rail for 5 in the right side. Roll the 5 in, maybe one rail maybe none depending on angle and try to get flatish on 6. From there just get any angle on the 7 to get on the 8 in upper right and you’re good.

3 in the short corner, 4 in the long corner by the 8, 5 in the long corner . Those are pretty close to stop shots as the give natural angles to the next balls. After that, all balls get pocketed in the closest pocket.
Like above but 4 in upper left, 5 in left side, that's the way I see it in my minds eye anyhow. In reality I probably make the 3 then miss the 4 and my opponent runs out.

I'd effing foul on the second shot when I play the five instead of the four because of the stupid colors.

If not,

3 to the lower right, draw for the four to the same with angle to get off the rail or draw to the five for the lower left. Enough cut on the five to roll a bit toward the lower right to have the six slightly off straight in. Seven to the lower right, shape to the eight is easy unless I am straight in, so don't do that. Also don't get straight on the eight. Paint by numbers.

Can't figure out why anyone would take a full length shot on their second ball.

Exactly. Drawing for the 4 takes the other balls out of the equation. As long as you get decent on the 5 shouldn’t be any problems and the 5 goes in all 6 pockets once the 3 and 4 are gone.

The pattern by Rodney (especially his second post of the 5 in the side) is stop-stop-stop (with slight draw). Lots of upside to that, even though the second shot is long.

3 lower right stop
4 upper right stop
5 upper left or left side depending on CB position
6 lower left stop
7 lower right top left spin takes up uptable
8 upper right top with left/right side takes you downtable
9 lower left

Also , this was easier to type.😉

Also works to bank it around the nine and follow the the same position. Might leave one fewer blocking ball (if you got the 3 behind the 8), but pretty easy.

If this is the final game of the set, I'm going runout all day long. If this is the first game, I like the 3-foul. People get so angry about losing on fouls, it could change the course of the match. If I just had a great runout the game before, I'm going runout.

This is what the player (681) played. He was trying to get where the "4 trying" cb is to shoot the 5. Instead he got to "4 landed" and was too steep on the 5. He ended up miscuing on the 5. He spent a solid 1-2 min trying to plan the out after the opponent scratched and he had BIH, and he's a fast shooter normally.

Run starts at 4:05.30. Link should take you right there. He spent a good minute before this planning the out.

I'm crazy and not that good but would have,
3 upper right
4 upper right
5 upper left or left center
6 lower left
7 lower right
8 upper right
9 lower left
then again with my shot making I probably would have been out of position after the 3 or 4 ha ha

The 5 to the 6 shape is my concern.
Shooting the 3....
I'll draw straight back to the 4 shooting it in the same pocket.

Doing it in this manner I've got a couple feet of draw and I'm Always in shape.
This allows me the correct angle from the 4 to the 5 to get on the six close.

I think Shaun chose the correct pattern, but obviously failed to execute. In my opinion his first draw shot was a bit too much which made his second shot a bit more challenging than it should have been.

It's a wide open table. In order to make a victim, just get up there and run the table. Either you can or you can't. Overthinking can cripple you. At times you might end up banking a ball because your position is a little off. Shoot the balls in before they do. Nobody remembers how you got out. They just remember you won.
