You've just made a ball to get behind the balls to try and run out.

Note: the 4 ball is at a little 'back-cut' angle, makes the shot a little tough. Plus, speed is crucial here! Too hard the CB off the 4 ball creates too 'wide' an angle into the 1st cushion. Too soft, the CB doesn't get across the table.

You need 3, This is how I chose to run out.

I probably would've tried to pull the cue ball back off that four ball.
Yup, absolutely the right choice. Following and going the long way has the inherent risk of stopping short and maybe even freezing yourself on that 11 or 15. If that happens, not only is your run over, but you're going to have a real hard time doing something defensive. Conversely, if you try drawing the cue to that area and miss position, you're going to have a much easier defensive shot.

you played a very nice shot, but like the others, I would have drawn back behind the 15

"I" felt if I try to draw back for the 5 ball, I could run into it. I f I get position on the 15, that could possibly end my turn because most likely I'd be left of the 15 ball and have to go to the right with the CB.

Remember: The CB is a little 'left' of the 4 ball. If it was more, 'straight-in,' I may have tried the draw.

My opponent would smell blood if I took that shot. Me.. I'd most likely bank the 5 next.
