I have to share this story.
I have always loved a little bit of bar box pool. And I I have always had my favorite bars where I would play.
Well money has been tight so those days are in the past......but every now and then my wife and I will go to have a few and let me shoot some pool.
So we decided to go to my fav. bar that has 4 Valley tables. Normally I would only go on certain days that I know of regulars that are there. But this was an exception. So I found a table with no quarters that was in limbo waiting for it's next competition. It was a local couple and they were pleased to have my friend and I play doubles with them (which BTW I hate doubles).
We were playing for a buck a person. Now normally when playing bar box 8ball especially for money I lay down ground rules.
I should have know this douche bag was a tool when I was shooting my 2nd to last ball and going for a break out on the 7ball that was tied up with the 8ball. Well Suffice to say I tied them up worse. So whats a man to do. He's got 3 balls all hangers and I had no shot what so ever. So I played a legitimate nudge on the 7 and made sure the placement of the CB was to leave him with a very difficult out.
So can anyone guess what kind of comment he had after I played this legit shot was? Yep you guessed it. I won't use the term he used to describe my shot because it is a bit racist.....you know the one. :slap:
Whatever I let it slide and should have stopped playing after that game.
So we win our first 2 games and it wasn't even great pool I was missing every second ball I shot at (I blame not having my 3142 shaft and using a warped bar cue :thumbup
.
So this guy is already getting on my nerves, not because he was an ass, but because he was being too complimentary. Saying things like wow you guys are really good shots, and we appreciate you letting us play.....Ok whatever man.
So anyway we win another game and at this point it was just friendly no cash. My partner breaks and follows up his first shot with what ever ball he wants since he made something on the break....right. Now I know every bar in every city across the world has there own rules for bar box 8ball. This goes back to the beginning of my story; always lay down ground rules. :nono:
Right away the other guy after my partners 3rd shot says "hey you made a solid on the break, why you shooting at stripes?"
Oh boy here we go!
"Sorry man" I said, "that's how we play". He wouldn't have it, saying he NEVER heard of this. I should have just said "when it's your table we'll play your rules"
"What" I said. I know that rules should be clarified but I know several people that play this way. I even added I play in many tournaments and league every Tuesday that this is the rule. Nope his drunk dumb ass wouldn't have it.
So here I have too much pride to let it go. I decided to use the wonderful world of technology and bring up BCA rules on my phone. Nope this didn't work he refused to read them....Anyway the game goes on.
So here's the part that really pissed me and my group of friends off. His wife, girlfriend whatever comes up to me trying to be the mediator and kind of friendly like hugs me and says "It's all good we're hear just to have fun" I agreed and turned back towards the table. He was shooting, stops walks over to her and says "don't you ever side with someone else" (which she wasn't anyway) then he smacks her!
Yep, spousal abuse one table over. Now at this point my hatred for his lack of pool now has turned into hatred for be a f*#king jerk.
So he spends about 10mins schmoozing his girl and apologizing.
We were so fed up with him we let him win, then to spite him once he finally won we said we were done playing.
Sorry so long, I am good for one long story every now and again....
