You know you're getting old when you're on AZB on a Friday night. That's me. I bet even JohnnyT is out playing. How about You? When do you know you're getting old or getting tired of pool?

You said it pretty well. I had a chance to play a little $10 entry 9 ball tournament tonight.

Went in, hit balls for about 10 minutes, turned around and came home.

Besides, my wife is coming in from Houston just anytime and suspect I dam well better be here.

Hell!!!!

Not necessarily dabarbr. There's nobody to play around here on a Fri. night. Times sure have changed!

I dislike the weekend crowd, except when there's a $50+ tournament!

There was a TV show I wanted to watch at 9pm so I sat in the recliner & just woke up. Missed most of it & decided to get on the computer.

The only time I'm playing at night any more is if/when I'm still alive in a tournament. Hard Times in Sacramento turns into date night in the evenings and I can't fade two or three couples playing on each side of me anymore. I will be raring to go on Sunday and go to the 9 ball tournament and I hope I make it to the evening. That will mean I'm in the money. John Henderson

Even to some of the younger folks, it's not worth going to a room where there are going to be bangers on all sides (4-8 per table). Sometimes you just want to play with no distractions, and play your best game.

It's not possible when Joe Six-Pack on the next table is constantly launching pool balls at you. In that case, it's not even worth playing.

Michael-----wishes there was a room close by where people keep the balls on the table.........mostly.

weekend nights

For the longest time I would play pool every night of the week except Fri,Sat.

Now there is a pool room with a great tourney on Fridays and a small casino just started doing a Saturday night tourney

Unfortunately I can not make either this weekend :(

I don't go near my regular pool room on these nights as it turns into a night club or some such thing.

I can understand you guys not wanting to be around the noise and bangers but the reason I don't go on weekends very often is much more pathetic, I'd rather just sit home and watch TV. hehe!!
MULLY
and I'm only 40 for God's sake

I stay home because of the black T shirt crowd that fills the ph in the evenings. Can't stand the music. It rattles my innards ... and at my age I don't want my innards rattled. :D

Bolt a cue to the wall behind the bed. Stick or wood should come to mind every time. Its tough when you get a bad case of CRS. :D

Action is down

There is just not much good action to be had anymore. And by action, I mean tournaments and money games. Either the tournaments are geared for the bangers and do not pay s**t, or everyone wants the orange crush to play, and for a $25 set.

And to put it frankly, it is more trouble than it is worth.

It is the modern world. Things will never be like they were again.

We had a stranger in the pool room the other day who said he was looking for action. He finally asked me to play some 1-pocket and I asked what he wanted to do. He said he wanted to play for $10 a game. I said no thank you and went home.

What was so funny was that when he said $10 a game, 3 others asked him to play.

amen to what this man said. yep that's about how many times i had to make that face the other night. i was just trying to shoot simple stupid apa nine ball and the teenie bopper club behind me kept launching ball after ball in our direction. i am not one for violence but i have to admit i was tempted to "accidently" send the cue ball into orbit on a random break.
mostly, my mom says the bangers come out at night, mostly.

Yesterday I played straight pool with a neighbour. He used to hang out in the pool rooms of New York City, but hadn't played in years. He's 82. He still shoots straight, but couldn't make his fingers form a closed bridge.

So if you want to play, you got to keep playing.

what?

after playing my max,3-4 hrs. a day 3-4 days a week (mon-fri) i've gotta rest for next week and leave playing to the weekend warriors mentioned in the other posts.

You forget to put "old" in the thread title.
You read my mind! lol I don't know about where you guys live, but where I'm at there is absolutely no reason for a serious pool player to be in the poolroom on the weekend nights(unless you are single, drunk and scoping for the opposite sex!)
