I get a new case in a few weeks. thanks for the heads up. Id be pissed if my new schon came out looking like that.

There are many fine cases offered by some fantastic craftsmen/artist. In my opinion....I prefer Dan Whitten. I've owned several....each one perfect with never a problem. I've yet to even find a slightly loose stitch on any of them. True handmade perfection. Of course thats just my personal opinion as I happen to really like his clean style of cases. There are other equally high quality cases that I'm sure many others prefer that style over a Whitten. Just like cues....thats why its wonderful to have many quality choices.

I just got a new soft sided Jim Murnak case and it is awesome. No need to drop the cue in and damage it. Just slide the cue in and off we go. I highly recommend Jim's cases.

You would think a pool player would notice these horrific marks after the first time or two dropping the cue into the case. Looks like it took him many drops into the case before he/she discovered the problem. Thanks goodness the case maker is making things right with not only the case but the cue as well.

Yeah, the first scuff on one of my cues like that would send me into cardiac arrest. I don't know how he could let it get that bad. It's like when you see those photos of someone with their toe rotted off or their gums all black and nasty. Why didn't you have that looked at sooner?

I feel I would of noticed it rather early....but hey...maybe not if my mind was elsewhere.
This was not a cheap case, but one of the fancy leather jobs?
I can understand exactly how it got that bad and he didn't notice.... It was his break cue - one that is used 5% in comparison to the other, and they usually are put together in a dark poolhall....

It looks like a fairly easy fix, and checking with a old cue first is a good idea.
Well - first of all I am glad it's not one of my cases.
Secondly - I HAVE SAID THIS FOR YEARS!!!!
Where are "protection doesn't matter" people now? Even if the cues are repaired they will NEVER ever be in "original" condition again.
Thirdly - I had a very similar incident occur to me when I put my custom one-of-a-kind Joss into a cheap knockoff case and the bottom fell out and the cue slid out the bottom through a ring of nail points. Mark Smith of Mark Smith cues refinished the cue after that incident.
If you can't see past the first few inches of the inside of case then you should be very confident about what is in there before you put your cue into it.
This is EXACTLY the kind of situation I have been ranting about for 15 years and what some many, so-called knowledgable people say doesn't matter. You think the case protects your cue just because it's pretty on the outside?
Think again.
