I didn't have a clue what those green boxes were when I first got here. After I learned what they were I gave some out and still didn't know how to check my rep. I just stumbled on to it one day while bored. I don't give it out very often and as such I don't receive it very often either. But that's ok too. I post in threads from time to time and would post more but it seems that my posts are often over looked. Maybe I don't have enough green boxes to get noticed. LOL

Gary

Gary, you get REP for humor this morning. :)

To check youre REP click on the TAB located at the top which says USER CP (WHICH stands for Control Panel). Then when you get to that screen there is a section toward the bottom that says LATEST REPUTATION RECEIVED. Over on the right hand side of that same area is a number which reflects your points and to the right of that is a little pull down arrow where you can open up the latest 5 comments and description of your received REP.

And, They Should Get Endless BEER And Popcorn

I think that if anyone ever reaches 10,000 Rep points, that their green boxes should become GOLD boxes and they would be afforded the luxury of sleeping in, in the morning.....

I apologize for my ignorance

I've been posting on this forum for a coupla years and I just did find out what a rep point was. I knew it was some kind of acknowledgement but as far as who, where, what, I had no idea. Today is the first time I ever opened up the User CP file. It only shows the last few reps. For those who gave up the previous reps, I only wish I had been smarter sooner. (Incidentally, I still dont know how to give one)

When you see a post you want to give rep to, just click on the little button at the bottom left of the post that says "REP".

using SDE's method I found my first repped post was me saying how even though it seems lame, the APA's limit on stacking a team up with only skilled players is probably a good thing.

It was like the 40th post I made.
Also found out I'm creeping up on 1,000 posts, lol.
I wouldn't mind seeing old reps, some of them have funny little personal messages that made me laff.

For the longest time I posted here and never knew what they were either. I thought it was the time you've been a member. Since then, I've learned several things about the rep points.
1. There are some members who are very generous with them and give them out on a regular basis.
2. There are some who get them time and again, but never find the time to reciprocate.
3. Some of the things you thought were quality posts never get a rep, while something written very incidentally with garner a rep.
4. Apparently, there are many people who will give rep to a person who posts about being drunk or for a racy avator (because they'll say "Rep to you" for the beers, etc. So, it's not always the quality or content of a post that generates a rep.
5. When you don't expect a rep and you get one anyway, they make you feel kind of good, like you contributed something worthwhile here.
6. They have helped me foster friendships here because of the notes and PMs that often accompany them.
7. I think the whole concept of rep points is a good thing and it's one feature of our site that I really enjoy.
8. Like Joey A (who "made me" my 11th box"), I also like looking back on the rep points and comments that went with them.

the pecking order

If you go to the member list and click on "reputation" it sorts the list by points. You still don't get to see their points, but it clearly shows that Smorgass Bored is the king of reputation (and deservedly so).
If you go near the end there is ONE guy between the green rep and the red rep with one box of BLUE rep. I imagine he must have exactly zero points. Interestingly enough, his name is thegreenhornet.
I also imagine after reading this post someone out there won't be able to resist throwing him some rep just to see the blue go away.

If you really want to know, you can find the post and comment left, but not who left you rep. It could be time consuming but if you really want to know.

1. Click your user name.
2. Click find more posts by.
3. Click last page
4. Scroll to bottom of page, this should be your very first post.
5. Click your comments of post to open the post.
6. Click the rep button, this will tell you if rep has been received for this post and comments, if rep was given.
7. Move up one post and repeat steps 5 & 6

Good luck!! :)

Steve

Nice info Steve but the posts only go back 1,000. I have a few more posts than 1,000. :o

But thanks anyway. That was pretty neat. I could guess at a couple of who wrote some of the comments but it takes way more time to find the post that has the REP than I'm willing to give.

I'm the same

You're not the only one Freddy, I noticed the rep meters along time ago but never knew how to find out who gave you rep until last week. It was not that easy to find.
Now I just need to figure out what V-cash is all about!
