Hi every1

Since u started to play pool when u did ur first run-out ?

I started to play pool seriously 3 months ago and i couldn't run-out until now :frown:

Waiting ..................................

What game? 8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball? What? The first time I racked a game of 10 ball I ran out (lucky)! I can't remember when the first time I ran out any other game was but I can remember the first time I ran an 8 ball table one handed. That was only a few months ago and we were playing doubles against some people that were not very good so I figured that would be a good spot. Since then I've only ran one other table one handed but I've only played one handed about 10 times so that ain't bad.

I play mostly 8 ball and I still haven't had a run out yet!
I have been practicing seriously for about 4 months yet. I have come close (a ball or 2 left) a few times though.

When I first started playing (when I was 20), it was on 7ft barboxes with a big cueball. It took about three months for my first 8-ball B&R.

When you can B&R on a 9 footer playing 9ball, 8ball, bank pool or 1pocket, then you're getting good.

You have to realize that, occasionally, on a 7ft table playing 8ball, that sometimes the patterns come up so easy, my mom could get out.

Not to take anything away from you, the first B&R is something you'll always remember (I know I do), but you WILL get a LOT further once you've acquired some table knowledge.

Regards,
Michael

P.S. Wait until your first 3pack playing barbox 8ball. then you'll feel like a KING!!!!

The fact that you have never ran out, makes it THAT much harder to run out. Its all in your mind.

It happens to me in straight pool, where its hard to beat my high run because thats all Im thinking about.

The best thing you can do is break up your run out. Run 4 or 5, then take a step back, think, and attack the remaining balls with a fresh mind.

Once you run out, you will find its easier to do the next time.

The first time I broke and ran in 9 ball, I didnt even realize it.

My husband and I alternate 8 and 9ball, and I've never had a B&R. But I have no doubt that it will truly be a great day in my life.

I play 8 ball, 9 ball and straight pool.

I have played for many years and have come close to running out on both 8 ball and 9 ball but till this day I have not accomplished it. I have gotten right down to the eight ball on several occasions but missed that last shot due to jitters or just being badly hooked by other balls on the table.

Someone once told me it will come eventually and that it was all just a mental thing. Not sure about that one??

Thanks ,

Paul.

The same used to happen to me a lot. Practicing 9 ball by myself I used to make the 9 in every once in a while and think "did I just break and run?"

Best game of my life - I was playing a guy named Aaron who was a friend of mine at college. We were in the rec room and it cost 50 cents to play a game - valley bar table. I broke and made the 8 (and only the 8) on the snap. I was pumped it was the first time I had ever made the 8 on the break. Rather than pay another 50 cents and rerack the balls Aaron said go ahead and pick you group and shoot. I chose solids and ran the table. It was the first time I had ever run a table in anything. One of my best pool memories!

It took me forever! Not sure when my first table run was but it was very hard to get my first BnR.My first year of playing pool was mostly small money 9 ball on true 8 footers.I would run out to the 8 like nothing and then miss the 9,I did this countless times before I sunk a 9(probably in the wrong pocket lol).

When I first started playing pool in NY in poolrooms it was all 14.1. We played to 125 and I never ran that high to this day...50 years later. My high run was 86 which I have done at least a half dozen times. I have run 112 in practice on a tight Brunswick. Johnnyt

Can I ask two simple terminology questions?

In 8 ball, if the other guy breaks, sinks a couple of shots, misses, then you run out all of your balls and sink the eight and win in one turn--do you guys consider that running the table? Is that kind of run-out much less impressive than a break and run, because your opponent got some of his balls out of the way first?

Second question-

In 9-ball, if you break, sink a ball, run a few balls in order and sink the 9 and win on a legal combo, do you consider that a run out? Or is it only a true run out if you sink all 1 through 9 in order?

Finally, which do you guys consider a tougher feat on a 9 foot. A true break and run in 8 ball, or a break and run in 9 ball? (the kind where the 9 is the last ball on the table and isn't sunk on a combo earlier in the game)

Yes the 8-ball is a run, but not a break and run. The combo on the 9 is not a run IMO. Johnnyt

Most people put too much of a premium on B&R's. I've watched complete hacks stumble their way through 8 ball and 9 ball racks. Anyone can do it, given the right layout and circumstances, just relax and play.

My first b&r's came before I started playing seriously. For about 6 months before I started practicing, I used to play with some friends at the university every now and then. I managed to stumble my way through an 8 ball rack, I remember hitting the eight ball really bad, but the easy pockets let it go in.

I was pretty excited, told everyone I knew, and only half of them believed me :)

I am guessing that you had your first run out while playing a money game....

Your opponent won the game and you ran out the door!!!!

I can only do a B&R about once a week now, used to be every few months. Slowly but surely getting better. On a normal break I can run 5-7 balls and always hook myself.

It's been too long ago for me to remember my first runouts in any game.

I'm in the same boat (not the Titanic, tho) and don't remember. I DO remember that I was very excited when it finally did happen - which took a lot longer than three months as the OP said. I think mine was prolly years or something (maybe).

i remember my first B&R. i was shooting at little jakes against my buddy warming up before leagues and snapped the 8 on him our first game at the table. then next rack i broke and ran out on him. he just sat there and laughed. the very next rack i broke and ran down to the 8 but overcut it and missed. those three racks were the highlight of my night!!! i couldnt tell you how we did at leagues that night but i can remember those 3 racks clear as day, and so can my buddy!!!!
