Your opinion on Magic Racks?

Since using the Magic Rack I have used nothing but and absolutely LOVE getting a perfect rack every time, sure there are very rare instances where a ball may rest on it but I'll gladly take that chance instead of getting a slug rack.

I was watching the U.S. Open 10 ball and it got me to thinking about the whole rack debate in pool. I realize that sometimes you need to appease the sponsors but is it really necessary to utilize an inferior product that may have a direct impact on the outcome of matches? I understand that both players are using the same equipment and it should even out in the end but if you can guarantee a perfect rack every time why even consider using something that can't.

What are your thoughts on the whole rack debate?

(P.S. - I am in no way affiliated with the Magic Rack, I simply HATE getting bad racks.)

I have one, I like it allot but for some odd reason, on the 9 ball rack, there's not allot of movement in the 9 ball, i was wondering if this is normal?

I will try the 10 ball magic rack later tonight...

When you get a perfect rack in 9 ball, the 9 shouldn't move much unless it's hit by another ball after the break.

I have the 9 and 10 ball set and I think they should rename the product "THE NUTS". Seriously, how it took so long for a rack this good to come along is beyond me. If I had a choice, I would never use anything but the Magic Rack. Anyone that doesn't want to use them obviously wants to mess with the rack, in my opinion.

Short lived gimmick.

The Delta 13 rack is the only way to go. The magic rack was touted heavily and fizzled. The vast majority of people who take the game seriously won't move a ball or balls to remove something on the table that affects the play of the game. It's just plain silly. And if you don't move it, it affects the play of the game when a moving ball contacts it. Too many negatives when you can just spend $40 or so and have a Delta 13 for a lifetime.

Which I find happens a lot for me. Maybe it's the combination of the speed I break and how I contact the head ball, but more often than not, I get movement on the 9.

I absolutely love my Magic Rack, and it has everything to do with getting not only a consistent rack, but a perfect rack, consistently.

I've not yet used the magic rack so I have nothing to say about it good or bad. But I was at the US Open last week for 5 days and I can tell you the players had no problems with the Delta. I saw Rodney Morris struggle in ONE game getting a tight rack but that was it. The Delta performed really well.

Something else I noticed about the Delta at this tournament. The inserts really work. The rack sounded no louder than a plastic or wooden rack. I've got to get me a set of those inserts.

Well it also seems silly to break your back leaning over a table for five minutes trying to get a tight rack on a tough racking table. Or having one player give better racks than the other. Delta 13 isn't as portable and I have to admit I haven't tried the Delta 13 but I have a suspicion it won't get the balls as tight on every table. If it can I will get one of those too.

So I get to spend $40 for something that lasts a lifetime and can't guarantee a perfect rack? When I can take 10 seconds without screwing around with a rack and end up with a perfect rack it seems crazy to buy the delta. I've seen fire and the wheel, no need to try and reinvent them.

Well, if you are happy wit the magic rack and all you play is 9 & 10 ball, then there is no reason to buy ANY other rack, including the Delta. But if you play any full rack games like 8 Ball, Straight Pool, or One Hole, you will need something unless you plan on racking the balls by hand.

Even if magic rack came out with a full rack template I think it would cause some interference problems 15 balls on the table, especially with the break shot of one pocket and straight pool.

I love the Magic Rack. The ony issue with it is that the balls will not rack tight if they are different sizes. This is common with pool halls that have old worn out balls and/or replace stolen or missing balls with new ones that haven't been polished down over the last 30 years.

Where are you getting your ideas from pocketpared? Who says it fizzled, you have sales figures for this thing?

I saw it used in a major tournament not too long ago (sorry, I'm drawing a blank on which one but I swear I'm not making it up). I've also seen more and more buzz on the forums about it and basically 99% positive reviews. I bet they're selling just fine.

I can't say anything bad about the delta 13, and on a table that's been put together right and hasn't taken a beating... delta should get 'em pretty tight. But the rest of us play on regular tables that get tons of daily abuse (including people tapping balls incorrectly) and magic rack will keep 'em tight even on a table full of dimples.

Serious players make a tight rack priority #1. It's more important than price (where MBR wins) or portability (where MBR wins). It's also more important that the mild inconvenience of picking it up afterwards. Anyone who truly cares about the tightness of the rack will be willing to live with that. Anyway it's not like a delta doesn't have to be lifted off the table. You just do it before the break instead of after.

I do agree that these things are not for 14.1 or 1 pocket. You can't remove it in a safety-break game, and you can't leave it hoping nothing touches it and rolls off. In a perfect world I'd have both.

Ummm, Magic Rack does have a full template rack for 8 ball and the like. And it works like a freakin' dream! I wouldn't use it for Straight Pool or One Pocket, (simply because of the break involved in those two games) but for 8 ball, it's as good as it gets.

i love my magic rack! after me buy the 9 and 10 then the 8 ball one i have had four other guys buy them after trying them only one time! no comparrison for a perfect rack every time

The Magic Rack is great.

It's usually so hard to rack on a usual pool room table because of all the pock marks. The Magic rack solves this problem.

Magic rack is the freakin nuts. I love it and have tried every rack
gizmo ever made. It also Helps improve your break, espicailly in 9
ball. Since the rack is perfect u know it's usually ur aim or speed that's off if u don't make the wingball.

Love the magic rack

I think it is great and amazing that it replaces the high dollar racks.I dont know if it is good for pool in the aspect of profit.Delta and other companies sponsor events and it seems that it would impact their sales.

magic rack

No opinion, but I was surprised that no one I played in singles or team used one.
All of my teammates experienced the same during our trip to Vegas.
