Actually, the simple physics of conservation of momentum says they must move to opposite sides equally, for all cues. The flexibility seems to have much less influence than the mass of the front of the stick. The effect of flexibility is also much harder to measure.

No. This statement is wrong for so many reasons. The mass of the cueball is not the same as the effective mass of the cue, so they cannot move the same amount. The cue is also basically a spring, so it will have reactive forces after the hit. There is a lot more, but I'm not interested in going deeper.

Quickest way to recognize what fraction the hit is?

you use the ghost ball to see your spot on your cueball, that is to hit the correct spot on the object ball.

the ghost ball is your cueball following its path to the object ball and placed in the right spot in your mind to show where the cueball will be needed to contact the object ball.

any fool can find the object ball spot that has to be hit to make it go in just by looking at the furthest part of the ball from the pocket or the place where you would hit it if you just shot it in by itself..

that is for learning players. once you can play and have enough under your belt you dont look for a ghost ball every shot as it isnt necessary and might make you more susceptible to choking adding something to the mix not needed.

then it all goes out the window when using english as your spot on the object ball moves accordingly with the english. and that becomes subjective.

Two of the upcoming WNT ranking events canceled

I see split brackets are becoming more popular around me. You have a high side and a low side. Both sides split the prize fund...but there are often 2-4X as many players on the low side. So it is a much better value proposition for the high side players, who are effectively getting subsidized by the low side.

Perhaps some similar arrangement could work at the pro level? Every split bracket I've seen has been handicapped, but I see no reason that has to be done beyond the initial break into two sides.
the fair and correct way is to have each play for the amount that bracket put in.

it is so wrong for others to have to donate to the top players end. sure that is what brings them there. but it should be up to the sponsors and organizers to see to that. not put it on the players that have no chance.
al it does is eventually kill of those weaker players entering.

i understand many want to play with the so called big boys watching from the chair. but to me at least that is the definition of a sucker, as far as the money goes. but if just paying for a good seat then that's on them.

Maybe the front end is more flexible than you realize.
It’s simple physics, something needs to move to the side (deflect), either the cue ball or the shaft.
