Do cue makers who make wood shafts still use a wood sealer dip?

I have yet to play with kielwood shaft but it's on the list. I have some wood to build a couple of cues, when that happens I will probably have at least one kielwood shaft built.

EDIT: I've heard they hit very similar to older wood shafts.
have no idea what older wood shaft but if you are referring to really old growth then I get the concept of what kind of feel or hit you might be saying. just letting you know I don't have any experience hitting with one.

anyway, just sharing my experience with kielwood since receiving mine early this month. mine is a hybrid kielwood with a CF insert. it is very straight with no signs of roll. I'm not sure about the numbers or the level of low deflection it has but I can attest that it is really low deflection. I had a buddy of mine have a try for it and loved it very much. mind you he didn't have any idea what a KW or didn't know he was using a kielwood. all he knew he was using a dark brown colored shaft. he was eyeing it all game long.

🎈Bill Schick Bocote Burl🎈

🎈Bill Schick 🎈

I was lucky to add this beautiful and unplayed Bill Schick to my collection. His cues come up very rarely and it is even rarer that you would get one in new condition. And as sugar to a cake, this one has Damascus and it is 1 out of only 2 built by Bill with this joint.
Then, Highly Figured Bocote used in this cue is amazing and most of people would never recognize this is Bocote.

Highly rare Bill Schick circa 2004
•6 points highly figured bocote w/ mother of pearl & ebony inlays
•Highly figured bocote butt sleeve w/ mother of pearl & ebony inlays
•Damascus steel joint - one of only two built by Billy
•Decor rings @ abcde
•Ivory butt plate
•Black Irish linen wrap
•Unplayed condition
•Two shafts ~ 12.8 mm
•58” ~ 19.5 ounces

Enjoy the photos!😃

🎈Bill Schick Cocobolo🎈

Ivory Joint

Small tip of Ivory on the end of the Joint
Segmented Handle

Mint condition

Bill used ivory joints in a higher percentage of his cues than any other cue maker and especially on his more expensive cues, he liked to add a small tip of ivory on the end of the joint bolt, engraved with a fancy "S" for Schick. (A couple of other well-known cue makers later copied this feature, with Bill's permission.)
He loved ivory not just for aesthetic reasons - he believed the hit from an ivory joint was the best hit there was. He liked the sound, the feel, and the feedback to the player. His cues always had a crisp feel to the hit.
Bill Schick cues are hard to find these days, as most have been absorbed into private collections. This is a rare find, especially in mint condition.

Enjoy the photos😃

I guess that most of you never heard of Bill so here you are an opportunity to learn something and to get some insides.
I always liked and appreciated his work, workmanship but the way his cues play.
They are one of the best playing cues you can come across.
I was lucky enough to buy all collection and all cues except the 4 pointer are in test hit condition.
Enjoy the photos and here you are an introduction to Bill's work!😀
Better and more close up photos are coming soon!

Well Billy Webb, known on AZ Billiards as Spiderweb has finally received the recognition for his work that he deserves. The July-August edition of inside pool magazine has featured Billy Webb as the Cue maker of the month in their Cue Makers Corner, Written By AZ Member Fred Agnir.

Billy Webb, has worked for many years on perfecting his cue making abilities. Billy is a very humble individual who rarely tut-es his own horn, and this more than anything has prevented him from receiving the recognition he greatly deserves. Billy builds his cues along the lines and using the parabolic taper developed by David Paul Kersenbrock and also used in South West and bender Custom Cues.

Billy mostly built cues that have six points three high and three low with Veneers in most cases. However, over the years Billy has been perfecting Butterfly Spliced cues in addition to his six point cues. The Butterfly Spliced cues that Billy has been perfecting Butterfly Spliced cues in addition to his six point cues. The Butterfly Spliced cues that Billy Builds are very unique and include a combination of standard points in conjunction with Butterfly points. Very few cue makers can make cues that are even similar to these Butterfly cues due to the overlapping veneers form Butterfly Splice to Butterfly splice. As I have stated above Billy is very humble and plainly states that Paul Fanellli and Kyle Van Den Bosch (Mariposa Cue Company) make the best around. Here is a direct quote made by Billy in another post concerning the two previous mentioned cue maker.
