Jump Bridges?

Jump devices are not legal in BCAPL & VNEA.

1-3 Use of Equipment

CSI reserves the right to prohibit any equipment it deems untested or inappropriate, orthat has not been evaluated by the CSI National Office.1. You are responsible for all equipment and accessory items you bring to the table (ARp. 79). You may not use equipment or accessory items in a manner other than their intended use.

Specifically

e. You may not shoot while using any item to support or elevate your bridge hand.

VNEA specifically says Devices Are Not Allowed For Jump Shots.

Those bridges do not "support or elevate your bridge hand".

Perfectly legal.

US National Pool Championships, July 5-12, 2026, Dubuque, IA

Well, they used to fly to Dubuque -- I checked when I made the OP. Orbitz now says there is nothing from Chicago on the dates I chose in July. The airport webpage says they only have charter flights on Sun Country.

When I ask American to get me to Dubuque, they propose to fly me to Madison, Wisconsin. That's only an hour and a half drive.

Southwest flies to Des Moines, and then I don't have to drive across any big rivers. Three hour drive. My great grandfather was from Des Moines. I don't know who these Gilchrist people are, though.

Cedar Rapids would be a shorter drive but not as scenic as from Madison. No idea about car rental. But Des Moines vs. O’Hare is a win.

"In the middle"

All nonsense. The side bets are irrelevant. Who cares how much the onlookers are betting on the side?

Super Bowl LIX, played last February, had $1,400,000,000 in the middle if we count the bets on the game. Does anyone think that this represents what the players received? Actually, members of the winning team got an average of $171,000 each, while members of the losing team got an average of $96,000. Hence, about $75,000 was at stake per player with respect to the result. Still, $1,400,000,000 in the middle sounds more impressive.

Can anyone verify if this is a Adam Rambow R/A-7B?

By the way, the cue is itself is a "cheap knock off" of Rambow's work. But it is collectable. It's a first run cue, one of the first Adam cues, made in Japan.

I just checked, I got mine in 2019 in nice shape (not perfect but much better than yours) for $275. And that was with 2 original shafts with the aluminum inserts.

I am guessing you are getting offers in the 200 to 250 range, and maybe crackpots saying it's a fake.

If you look up prices for s new butt cap, wrap, and refinish at Proficient Billiards you can get an idea why the condition matters so much.

A refinish with leather wrap is $325. Plus whatever the butt cap replacement costs and whatever else they run into. Is the shaft straight?

I would guestimate another $100. Then there is shipping both ways. That eats up the value of the cue pretty fast.

Frankly, it's worth whatever someone will pay. I would throw a starting price of a couple hundred on it and let an auction run to completion.

But be prepared for problems, like buyers wanting money back due to the condition, even though it is clear in the pictures.

Can't agree with the cue being low quality. The way it is constructed is pretty good. No metal was used in the joints. Very well made

My Fargorate progression

View attachment 710563

I played my second fargorate tournament on Friday a week ago. I was playing as a 475. A couple of the guys knew me and I think they rated me there with the the tournament director. Some other players also did not have an established rating, and they were playing as a 425. That was fine by me, as its well under where I think I'll end up, and I bought myself in the player auction again:)

I played 3 matches. Lost, won, lost. My first match was against Shaun, 645 fargo with over 1000 robustness. We have known each other for 15 or 20 years. He usually gives me the 6 when we gamble. I went to 3 games, he went to 4. He beat me pretty easily 4-1.

My next two matches were against players I've never met before. The first was Justin. He played as a 445. But I looked up his rating when I got home, it was 430 with 55 robustness. We both went to 4, and I won 4-2. Unless he was having a bad night, I felt I could have spotted him the 7 and gotten the money.

The last match was against Matthew, who is a 441 with 528 robustness (looked up when I got home again). He beat me 4-1. He made balls from everywhere, but I still felt like I'd like to gamble him even.

After I lost, I played a guy who I've known for 15 years. He's usually gotten the best of me. We played a set to 7, even. I beat him 7-0, and I really don't think I missed a ball I went for the whole set. I can't remember ever blanking someone for the cash. I played super well. He is a 595 with about 1500 robustness. He did play poorly on his end, but I pretty much got out every time he missed. It's funny, we were warming up together before the tournament started, and he beat me the 3 or 4 games we played then for practice.

I guess if you go my two tournament performances thus far I'm in the low 400's, but if you go by my gambling I'm off the charts! ha ha.

It was also my first tournament that used digital pool brackets. That was really neat. The brackets would text me when my match was up, with the opponent, table, and handicap assignment. It was quite slick. DCC is stuck in the MS DOS era.

Unfortunately, my fargorate has not been updated with the matches from this second tournament, even though its been 6 days now. I don't know what's going on. The digipool brackets are online, and they say they report to fargo for this event. On my first tournament which was about 1 month ago, I can't find the brackets anywhere online, but the games are in fargo. This one is the opposite. Go figure.

After the tournament, I gambled all night long until about 6am. I haven't done that in years. They were random games, we all played each other, and some partner games. They aren't relevant to the fargo ratings as I didn't know any of the players, their names or ratings, and just played everyone even. I did super well, and went on FB marketplace the next day and bought some super nice machinist tools locally with the dough:) I did get a flat tire on the way home, but even changing the tire was fun:)

Until next time.

What did you pay for the levels? I picked up the big one at a yard sale for $50...

BIG LOT - VINTAGE ADAM, BRUNSWICK CUES

These look pretty pristine.

Have they been sitting in a vault somewhere or have they been refinished? Some back story would be appreciated.

Lou Figueroa
also some measurements
Thanks lou. I have specs all taken down at home for the adams. I'll update the listing soon and track down any missing model designations. These belong to a retired pool room owner outside Seattle area. I'm selling for him. They are original.

Jump Bridges?

Thank you guys, I'm a decent jumper, but have trouble on close in jumps. Strange, I have large hands but can't seem to get a stable bridge going, causing me to make poor contact. I can close in Jump maybe 30% of the time, and long jumps, when there is a bit of distance between what I am jumping over, is very easy for me. I am quite determined to learn, and wondering if these will help me out. I actually have both ordered on Amazon and we'll get them this Monday to try out.

Why did I miss the ball? Did my aim fail, or was it my mechanics?

Before video tape players would actually try to see themselves in mirrors. Years ago I played in a pool room and had big glass windows and at night when the lights were on inside it was dark out were Giant mirrors. Players were always trying to see themselves stroking.
Just something I remember I thought interesting.

I actually used 2 mirrors for this, one behind me and one in front. It worked but it was fiddly to set up so I went and bought a cheap sony video camera and ran the output to a TV so that I could watch from different angles.
