OK, the nature of the thread is this:

Describe something that you think could or should be a rule for tournament play (as unlikely as it may be), and why. Reply to others (but we already know their post will probably not be a rule, so don't beat them on the head).

I'll start:

Jump cues should only be allowed on the shot following the break (regardless of who broke), AND in the first shot while coming to the table. You can jump your way out of a safety that was set on you. You cannot use the jump cue after your first shot in an inning, so if you hook yourself, too bad; you have to use your playing cue (with no modifications, meaning you can't unscrew it or shorten it).

Reason:

Jump cues are not going away. The sponsors sell cues. The sponsors want to sell jump cues. But I think if you hook yourself, there should be a harsher penalty than jumping your way out.
