It didn't have a Predator shaft when I saw the cue, and that would have been about 2000, give or take one or two. Bear in mind, at that period of time, guys hadn't largely gone to Predator shafts just yet, but that was to change shortly.

A bit of memory, the very first well-known tournament player I saw with a Predator shaft was Mike Davis, probably a little after that, playing in a tournament in Rockville, Maryland. That was the first-generation Predator shaft, which had a longer ferrule that later generations, but I could tell it was just a bit shorter than the standard one inch, so it did look different. The rest of course, is history, as a lot of guys went with Predator soon.

Doc, when I pass away, you may want to section my brain to see what kind of cue memories can be extracted.
1st generation 314 shafts aleady had a short ferrule, I got my first one in 98. maybe Davis had an early prototype

GENDER IN POOL ... Do Men Play Better Than Women? ... Recent Legal Trial

I don't believe any gender-based physical advantages apply to pool. As has been discussed, the male "advantage" is just the difference in how many take the game seriously, especially at a younger age.

Pat,

Have you read through my “Gender in Pool … The Battle of the Trans-Sexes” (BD, May, 2025) article?

I think I made a fairly good case that pool is a gender-affected sport. The judge in the legal case agreed with me.

Regards,
Dave
