Fedor Gorst - looking for action in Louisville, KY tomorrow. If you could - would you?

I clearly said I only play once or twice a year, I didn't say I've only played that often my entire life. I also never said that I didn't play better in the past.

2 times 9' 1 time BB all 9 ball

I really have no desire to play any better, I don't have the time because I'd rather hang out with my dog or play poker 😁
The problem with most pool halls now is they're boring. The pool hall I grew up playing in had 25-30 regulars there all the time (good dudes!) trying to hash out games with one another. It wasn't easy, but we all ended up in action after some negotiating. Sometimes you got a game you liked, sometimes not, but everyone always ended up in action. Half the room played heads up and the other half in ring games. I can recall there were one or two guys that only wanted to play for the time and everyone teased them because of it. Everyone gambled and money mostly just rotated around. If someone couldn't hash out a game, they would stomp out mad for everyone freezing them out. That was rare though.

In the evenings, card games broke out. It was just a great place to hang out with your friends, play games and gamble. I go to pool halls now and they have a totally different feel / vibe. They lack that gambling atmosphere and camaraderie. Gambling doesn't have the same thrill to me as it used to, but to me, pool is like poker...ya gotta be betting something.

It's probably good that I can't find a room like that close to me...I'd be there all the time and end up in divorce court because of it.

It's how many balls you need vs any particular player.

So if you usually get/need 10-7 and you get better you would get/need 9-7 and have improved a ball.

You and @bbb, thanks for clearing this up. My bet factor has always been, "They don't shoot good enough." So even simple pool handicapping is a mystery. :ROFLMAO:

No.

It's a total and complete donation with zero honor. Fedor can give up numerous balls to just about anyone. He should be offering up 11-6 to all comers, still be stealing, but at least giving up a chance. Otherwise he can be like Woodward selling "worn" jerseys for $100.

Lou Figueroa
just what I want, lol
Of course it's a donation, but how is it not an honor to get on the table with an all-time great? It's a story for posterity, no more and no less. Being able to say "I once played Fedor Gorst" would be a very big deal to many starstruck players. Anyone who doesn't see value here need not partake.

FYI, I've seen both Reyes and Chohan gambling even at one-pocket with no-name players at Derby City. Freddie the Beard, similarly, used to gamble cheap with no-names at bank pool without giving weight at Derby City. There are many who are happy to donate for the thrill of playing a legend, knowing they have little to no chance to win.

Meucci ID

Thanks guys. Kind of what I figured on it. What puzzles me though is the guy says he got it new with that shaft, but who knows. It is super clean for an "originals."
I know what you mean on the whippy shafts. I used to sell Meuccis and played many of those shafts. Quite a few pros used them in the 80's.

Dieckman's Birthday in January!! What was the cost of Deek-a-Mon (Road Trip/Gas Money ) Cues???

He put a little something else in those butts, the legend says.

I own one of those cues. My 1st of 4.
Could it's Been His special cookies???
Come Back... Saturday 01/17/2026 to check the sale section for which item is the Gas Cue.
Starting to thin out my collection>>> Othrewise how can I afford that Dieckman/ Byrne Travel Cue...LoL

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

Why would a Billionaire want you to make a random decisions for yourself when he can maneuver you into making a decision which benefits himself (amongst all the choices)???
That's obvious, but not what I was getting at.

What I don't get is how an average "normal" person could be so obsessed with looking at life through this lens that they can barely see anything in the world not tinted by politics. I understand being interested in politics but to make political rage bait your entire personality is just sad.

I mean, there are other things in life than arguing the talking points of said billionaires and making them your entire personality and worldview. To me it's just nuts. I guess it's too much effort to come up with something on your own so they just repeat the talking points to try to "own" the other side. I get debating and such but it's not even a particularly interesting or logical thing to debate about.

Again, whatever floats someone's boat but it just seems very sad. Imagine the friends and family lost over this crap. 95% of it doesn't effect normal everyday life anyway and half of your family is totally alienated, something that does effect day to day life and quality of life.

Roy Billiard Cue Repair Machine

It's basically the Sparkcar repair lathe: Login to view embedded media
I seem to recall it not reviewing very well.

Here's a prior thread on the subject: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/affordable-lathe-to-put-on-new-cue-tips.515618/

One does not turn using a milling tool, one uses a turning tool (fixed single point)
One does not face using a milling tool, one using a facing tool (fixed single point)
The object being turned spins, the tool does not.
Did anyone notice the runout of the shaft in the lathe prior to work ?!?
Did anyone notice the runout of the new ferrule after installation ?!?

So many things backeards--as if one was trying to use a mill as a lathe::
it is generally known that one can use a lathe as a mill but generally not vice versa.

2026 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

Sort of embarrassed to even post this but 18 on New Year’s Day (video available if anyone is dying to see it). Missed an easy ball frozen to the rail. Ugh. 9’ Goldenwest on 860. Really out of date FR 430 (RB 197; haven’t played in a league that reports to Fargo in 15 months.)

I often get to 12,13 but somehow manage to screw up. I am sure it’s my end patterns.
