I wish, the only league we have is an amusement company league, here is the scoring, each ball counts as 1 point and 3 for the 8, a break and run and you win 10 to 0, 8 on the break is 10 to 0 win, there is a run back rule, you have to worry about scoring points, I definitely play different under these rules, it's all we got......

I’m still not sure and there is a limit to how much I am going to research it. But… I think it is their 8 ball rule 6f(9). There is a corresponding rule for 10 ball in another section- 13(9). That rule has as a loss of rack foul “ Deliberately moving a ball(s) other than playing as part of a shot.” They then list two exceptions to the rule, neither of which covers the handing the ball to the opponent.

I think this must be it; handing the cue ball over technically qualifies. I also noticed a possible contradiction/ conflict/ ambiguity in two rules that differentiate between standard fouls and loss of rack fouls. I won’t go into it now. Anyway, given this, what I have been told, and going through some of the rules, if I foul I am never going to touch a ball in any way, including to signal a foul. If, for instance, I touch a ball and call a foul on myself, I will simply tell the opponent that I fouled and it’s ball in hand and walk to the chair. If I am correct that this is the rule that applies, I am not a fan of its interpretation and application.

Considering how often it happens -- almost never in typical league games -- there is no reason to put a limit on intentional illegal contact.

The real reason it's in there is because snooker has/had a rule that you should never benefit from a foul. It's unsportsmanlike and very lower class.

I played in the APA for a few years when I was just learning, it was great then what I didn't notice is the team always had to change a couple of players, after a while I learned it was because of skill levels, as you go up in skill level it's YOUR job to find new players with low skill levels, finding new players in small markets is not easy, so sandbagging by taking a lot of "innings" and just barely winning is rampant, you put together a team for a few years and then eventually it has to be broken up due to skill level, it helped me alot when I first started but there is just not enough young people interested in the sport to keep adding players, there are some new leagues I would like to join but none of them anywhere close to where I live.

Yes, the arena announcer would tell you what was coming up next. But that only helps if you are watching at that moment. A Facebook post that had the order of play etc would’ve been helpful (to me at least).

I agree about the director (who chooses the view). This seems to be a pretty common problem. Let's see the opponent's reaction instead of the cue ball which is going towards a cluster. It really requires pool understanding and I think they are often stuck with whoever the video production company provides.

The other school of thought from people was, just bash at the ball since slop counts and maybe when the balls come to rest you made a ball or tied one up that way. I'd rather not do the hit and hope shot.

The clock does not change until it is legal for the incoming player to take a shot. The clock is best switched by the outgoing player and I think it is a very good thing that the outgoing player is forced to return to his seat promptly.
