Safe travels to those attending the Derby City Classic this year

It's still pretty much a solid sheet of ice, here in the DFW area. At least, it is in my neighborhood. We got freezing rain, followed by a few inches of sleet, and finally a few flakes of snow. Tried to walk out on my back porch, and almost busted my butt. I haven't seen anyone try to drive down my street since Friday. 11 degrees last night. Should get above freezing tomorrow. Didn't lose power, though. (y)

Staying inside and watching live streams again, today.

Fedor New Cue?

It’s the Indian not the arrow.

You can’t play anywhere near Fedor no matter what kind of cue you use.

Instead of thinking about cues, you should spend your money on lessons.

Good players can win with crooked cues off the wall.

Ok now that we’ve got all that out of the way, it looks like Fedor was playing with a different cue at the Derby Bigfoot matches.

Got any info?
You forgot. "You don't need that cue when a Schmelke will work just fine."

Myth or real - Stroke smoothness as a requisite for certain shots

gentle acceleration also means the speed isn't changing much in the area you are attempting to hit so that does work.
That's, uh, on cruise control. And yep it's consistent yet simple was straight pool skills. The off the chandelier shots were fun in the cheap ring games. Cheap lessons. 😉
I paid for mine. 🤷‍♂️ Bar table 8 ball at a buck a game.
That Old Cork Sucker never made a hard shot! Grrr!
I give lessons, now. 🤷‍♂️ 😉

DCC Stream

Yup. It's a good stream too. Can't figure out how to get to the match results to see who's still playing? This has always been a pain to follow because of the redraw after each session.
you can go to : https://digitalpool.com/tournaments/2026-derby-city-classic-9-ball-banks/matches

That summary helps. Scroll to the bottom to the current round and it will basically show you who is left minus whoever got a bye, if any.

Of course looking at it right now it isn't showing the Rd 7 results. Some of the matches were played as I was watching Filler vs Roberts last night. Those rows were there last night, not sure why they aren't there now. Same old Derby.

update: Now they have Rd 7 up and are showing the byes. LOL

Myth or real - Stroke smoothness as a requisite for certain shots

the longer the length/distance of the period of no acceleration/constant speed of tip, the easier to have the proper speed when you hit your target/object ball.

so acceleration through the stroke is wrong. and taught by most of the non knowledgeable teachers that just regurgitate what they heard in the past.

it is uneven deceleration that is catastrophic near the cueball that you cannot control. so you need to learn the balance.
One huge disagree is
"so acceleration through the stroke is wrong."
Well depends on what you mean.shrug.
My best performance comes when I can launch the cueball (missile) precisely.
The pause is a final wellness check at the back in preparation for the launch.
Launch according to martial arts training always starts with the footwork. From the ground up . The conductor of the performance er uh the planing to execution decisions must be uh well commitment comes to mind. The leap of faith.
"What does it matter that you can't swim?" "The fall will probably kill ya anyway. 🤷‍♂️ "
Frog was my first nick name. 🤷‍♂️
