Myth or real - Stroke smoothness as a requisite for certain shots

I was showing a mid 700fr player a 1 pkt shot. He watched me shoot it a couple times- my absolute maximum inside english with a swerve at high speed and he says I can't allow myself to stroke a ball like that. I replied I know it looks bad but I don't have your stroke and that's the way I have always played it. I told him he can execute the shot without looking like a monkey effing a football.

A couple nights later the shot came up and he nailed it smooth as ever.

One I found...Danny vs. Grady

Sadly he was a “bleeder”, win the cash at the tables and dump it at the tracks, both dogs and horses.
Dogs were the big ones with Danny. He knew every dog and every dog track in the country. What he never figured out was what races were fixed! I told him several times it was not all legit and he said he knew that but could still beat the track. ??

Practice what I Preach

Center ball beats all.
Well the phenolic tip practice is a good place to start. Well while building the stance and erecting a solid shooting platform. A time in practice which is not pocketing concern.
Kinda like doing the scales in piano practice. The fingers provide the final input so the grip must be relaxed and supple. Yet capable of a rattle 🐍 strike, through timing.
Practice the soft stuff first building a shooting platform pays dividends later. As in when under stress. 🤷‍♂️

Derby City Bigfoot

Interesting story. A guy on my APA team went to a local tournament last weekend at Stixx and Stones outside of Dallas. In the 2nd round he ended up playing Marco Teutscher. Marco won the first two, then my buddy won one, then Marco finished it off with a 3-pack. Funny to see a 800-fargo tuning up with a bunch of 450 fargos and APA types.
Did Teutscher take it down? Not the least awkward situation but paid warmup, free table time, ???
