Jitters or nerves

You're nervous and anxious, because you care about the outcome. The problem is, you care too much.

You need to be content with already considering the match lost, and then you'll play your best without any nerves. It's easier said than done of course, but if you can teach yourself to not worry or not care about the outcome, it leaves a lot more mental power for creative shots and safetys.

QATAR WORLD CUP 10 BALL, OCT. 28 to NOV. 2, 2025

(from facebook)
THE QATAR 10-BALL OPEN starts in a few hours — and it brings the THIRD STRONGEST FIELD of the past year.
Quite an accomplishment for an event brought by neither Matchroom nor Predator Pro Billiard Series.
It’s organized instead by the Qatar Billiard & Snooker Federation under WPA sanction — and they’ve managed to attract nearly the entire world elite.

BRUTAL QUALIFIERS
The final 16 of the 128-player field were filled over the past four days through FOUR SINGLE-ELIMINATION QUALIFIERS (128 players each).
Among players rated over 800 who qualified:
PHILIPPINES — Jonas Magpantay (820), Jundel Mazon (816), Oliver Villafuerte (815), Edwin Gamas (813), Kyle Amoroto (805), Jeffrey De Luna (804)
CHINA — Jin-Hu Dang (821)
RUSSIA — Ruslan Chinakhov (805)
JAPAN — Hayato Hijikata (805)
INDONESIA — 17-year-old Albert Januarta (804)
CYPRUS — former snooker player Michael Georgiou (802)
Back-in-action OMAR AL SHAHEEN (KWT) as well as RAYMUND FARAON (PHL) and JESSON MARABI (PHL) notably failed to qualify.

WHO IS MISSING?
Key top players from the year’s strongest field (World Pool Championships) not present here include
KO PIN YI, KO PING CHUNG, ALOYSIUS YAPP, and ANTON RAGA.

WHO IS ADDED?
Strong players not in the World Pool field include EVERY ONE of the above-mentioned qualifiers.
The chart below shows where the QATAR 10-BALL OPEN ranks by HARMONIC FIELD STRENGTH (HFS-64) this year —
NUMBER THREE overall, behind only the World 9-Ball and the U.S. Open 9-Ball.

Matchroom Improvement list

I’ve watched a lot of Lukas this year. He’s made big progress, but he’s not even where Shane Woolford was two years ago. I think Lukas needs another year of progress to be considered for the Mosconi. Thorpe is a better player now. He’s arguably playing his best pool ever.

The key is Gorst and SVB playing like stars. They didn’t last year. The European Team has two rookies and it’s not as strong as usual. I think it will make for a more competitive Mosconi.

Another Bad Draw-Miscue-Scoop Foul Call in a Major Pro Pool Tournament

Intention has zero to do with fouls. Do you generally intend to scratch? Do you intend to not hit a rail after contact?

Miscues should not be fouls unless an obvious double hit occurred. By obvious, I mean with the naked eye without video payback. Replay would be the death of pool, which is already boring as hell to watch. Before someone jumps down my throat, that is my opinion (which should be obvious), but also seems to be the consensus of the non pool playing population.

"with the naked eye"? can you post a video example example of such a miscue in a match? the double hits in a miscue are almost always happening so fast in succession they can't be spotted.

and again, read the WPA rules about intention in these situations, or tell them that intention has zero to do with fouls.
