My New Diamond Professional!

I had a GC 3 installed in my new home on Friday - it looks and plays great as far as I am concerned- it is a matter of preference and also a matter of, IMO , of one’s favorite games - mine being 14.1- the GC is my choice - perhaps if it were one hole and 9/10 ball I would look at the Diamond.
Please enjoy your new table choice and congrats!
Enjoy your table
I do not understand why you think a diamond would be better for OnePocket
Or any other game

Do I really NEED a $10k table?

Far and away the most common size for home tables when I was growing up - you don't have to have a 9 foot table to be "serious" about the game - they're popular because of fit and price and people with home tables weren't going to pool halls, if they even still had one, they were playing . . . . at home.

My Anniversary is the 8 foot "pro" or oversized - love it, but I wouldn't hesitate to get an 8 foot table if it was needed for fit. Even when I played on bar tables, if I had a choice I wasn't playing on 7 foot tables otherwise - but sure, if someone plays a lot of league pool on a 7 footer and that's about it, no doubt that is a great option.
Any size table is fun. A 3x6 bar table is a blast… I have a love for bumper pool.

Delivery and installation is complete. I've only shot around about a minute because I am hungry and then need to run to Walmart and get some stuff so I don't have to go tomorrow. Might get to play on it later tonight.

The install took about 4.5 hours. Alot of good stories shared. Including the one about the bank robbery. Anyway, attached are some pics for verification for those that were in doubt.

I had never seen the cloth sprayed/glued before. Interesting to see that done. If you look close you can see DIAMOND engraved into the rails.

My New Diamond Professional!

Ran out three times so far ….. very nice!!!

You have hosed up 3-4 chances to run out…mostly because of speed.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but in your legacy threads where you complained about the table not offering “runnable” layouts, were you describing not runnable *by you* or runnable…by anyone? HUGE difference, potentially.

Over the years when I have referred to my spreads as not runnable I would say the following percentages apply:
Not by me - 25%
Not by anyone - 75%

It's hard to distinguish between rail speed and cloth speed because they are so inter-related. At least to me they are.

Standard Simonis Green 860.

Classic Cue Market Dying Off

the good old time makers had lots of shafts hanging for a long time curing even long after.
and they actually went to work and you got a cue in a month.

any cuemaker that makes you wait more than say 6 months is lazy or has no stock.
or the rare one with some many orders he cant get them filled and lies to you over and over when you will get your cue.

Classic Cue Market Dying Off

"Pretty quick" no thanks, I'll take my cues unwarped
Pretty quick by custom standards means not waiting 2-5 years.

You wanna wait 2-5 years for someone to work with kiln dried lumber? Be my guest. I guess there's the scenic route for everything, but waiting years to make a cue with kiln dried lumber is like aging a box of franzia saying it gets better with age.... But then again, I do enjoy reading all the posts from you old timers complaining "My custom maker hasn't contacted me in years! When is my cue going to be done!", so to each their own.

Also, with some planning, it's not hard to have a stock of wood consistently seasoned ready to work. For every cue I make, I buy enough wood to make 3 more cues. I will never out build my wood supply, and I will never even get close to having to touch wood that's been sitting less than 8-10 months, which is more than kiln dried needs. I started seasoning and stocking wood almost a year before I started building cues. I've got a room in my basement stacked floor to wall, wall to wall with wood that gets rotated and re-placed 3x when a piece is used. It's extremely over-kill for how many or how little cues I produce, but I am in this for the long haul, and you need a river of wood to do it.

Anyways, thanks for your support.
