Okay! SUNDAY STORY time. 
Back when I was a Boy Scout, when John F Kennedy was president. Weaverville Scouts took the 40 mile ride In the early morning dark to Whiskeytown Dam. JFK was giving a dedication to the dam and lake. The lake takes water from Trinity lake and diverts it to the Sacramento Valley.
At the far right edge of the dam is the glory hole.

So I was 12 years old and road in our leaders international scout. Probably a full load of scouts in 2 vehicles.
We arrived before daylight and provided a rope pathway clearance to access the grandstand. Got to see the president arrive and land on the dam. 4 different choppers. The trees held secret service snipper equipped security.
We provided the passage to the comfort station z as well as access from parking.
When his dedication began. Our walkway was collapsed and we moved as close as possible to watch and listen.....to Our President. Kinda A Big deal at 12. Shrug . I was still a shrimp at 12 and an older scout allowed me a seat on his shoulders.
Can't help but feel the tears and pain upon hearing of his assassination.
