Mosconi Cup 2025, Dec. 3-6, Alexandra Palace, London

it's no conspiracy, the US team just isn't that good.

We have the talent but not the work ethic, along with a small handful of folks with the work ethic but not the talent. Only SVB combines the two.
Aloysius Yapp said it best when asked why he puts so much time into practicing (up to 8 hours-839 Fargo Rate)
“It’s my job.”

barry hearn was on between the matches. his response was more events in the US

which i guess in time can grow US players. but until then the euro and asian players gonna rob those events
We have no billiard schools, no coaches for the professional level players and the Euro’s include 14.1 in their arsenal.
Johan Ruijsink specifically had JJ as Vice Captain to learn, implement and continue the things Team USA learned during the 3 years he coached them, winning 2 out of 3 Mosconi Cups.
I’d like to know why all those lessons have fallen by the wayside.

Fracasso-Verner comes from deep on the loss side to win 2nd Annual ME State 9-Ball Open

It’s been a really good year for Wallingford, CT’s Lukas Fracasso-Verner (LFV). His best since he began reporting to us here at AZBilliards a decade ago, when he was 14 years old. Each year, since that time, with the exception of COVID year 2020, he has increased his annual earnings at the table and advanced upwards in our AZBilliards Money Leaderboard. He ended his first (recorded) earnings year, 2015, at #856 on the board, finished at #80 in 2023, #56 last year and with the month of December mostly still ahead of him, he is now at #54. LFV came […]

Mosconi Cup 2025, Dec. 3-6, Alexandra Palace, London

This has become an oddly compelling event. Seeing how many ways Team USA can find a way to lose.

At least the players are putting up a fight. Styer and Gorst gave it their all, mistakes and all. SVB is the only one really playing his game, though.
Watching Greg Norman collapse or figure skaters fall or field goal kickers miss is also compelling. That's part of sports!

Gorst looked shell shocked in that first game against Filler. I think the whole Team USA is shell shocked after what just happened in that first match. Filler's position shot from the six to seven in rack one was twice as hard as Styer's eight to nine was, and he hit it perfectly. That clearly shows the difference ability wise in these two teams. Pros playing amateurs is how it looks.
Psychology coach needed.

Vann Corteza goes undefeated to win 2025 Bob Stocks Memorial

Memorial will be held again this coming spring as a WNT event The (sort of) annual Bob Stocks Memorial Tournament began as an independent event a few months after Stocks had passed away in June 2006. Originally held under the auspices of the Tiger Tour, it was hosted by a number of tour representatives, as well as a lot of personal friends of Bob Stocks. Among them were Ceci Strain, Andy Lincoln, Nick Prinsloo and both past and current owners of the First Break Sports Bar in Sterling, VA, which hosted the event in its early years; Stefano Ariavakis, Larry […]

Frankly I was surprised that Styer showed his face out there during this match. I'm wondering what the heck is he doing out there, trying to give advice or encouragement to Gorst. Gorst seemed to humor him though.

For all intents and purposes this year's edition of the MC was over after Day One. Now it is only a formality and the final score. For Team USA it is all about saving themsleves the embarrassment of a shutout. A match win in any match would look like a victory for USA.
