dear diary: a 14.1 journey to nowhere

Good luck to you. I hope I haven't been too critical and discouraged you from playing 14.1. It's a fun game. For the first years of my active time playing, I played solely for fun, not even competing, that came later for me. It's easy to get confused when there are 15 balls on the table and no set rule for how to go about clearing them off. It's easy to get abit confused and discouraged when you can't see the way to run the balls.

When or if you do decide to go back to 14.1, maybe it's a good thing to approach it through playing just 5 or 6 balls in the beginning, like you do with 9 ball. Getting a feel for setting up breakshot is really the way to go in order to run multiple racks reliably. But you don't have to do it this way, just run them the way you think is right and use videos to understand what you could do better. And do have fun, try some wild things. If you never try something crazy, you're not learning.

naw man if anything you kept me wanting to come back to it. i just need to take a break because i think im developing more bad habits than good ones through my own frustration.

i played the 6 ball ghost for 20 mins today and didnt get out once so i think i just need to work on my fundamentals for a while

My Interview with Bill Curran Optical

yep if you cannot look up and down the table clearly you need new glasses of some kind.

any kind that will work. and your regular ones should work.

How low do you get your head when you shoot? Glasses are designed so the focus point is in the middle of the lens. With a more stand up posture that works, but if you have your head right over the cue you aren’t looking through the center of your lenses so you aren’t looking at the right part of the glasses.

Unknown cue help?

Maybe send Pics to Jeff at Prather cues in Ok.
The points remind me of some pre-made butts I saw in Tusa back in the day at Mike Betts shop in the Palace,
Mike learned from Verl Horn. Mike and Verl both used Prather cue parts for their cues.
It could be something from someone that worked with
Verl. i have worked on a few Verl's cues and not sure i told people what i found. You could be on to something here.

The rings on the butt all line up and are indexed perfectly The shaft ring is not indexed with the joint collar

Most of the verl horn shafts i have seen were all ivory

CJ or The Scorpion?

Heart is the ability to play to your best regardless of the score or situation.
Coming to the table down 6-0 going to 7 And winning 7-6 takes heart. Dan Louie demonstrated Heart in doing that in the finals.

I like this definition. Like I would take prime Pagulayan over many “better” players if I I had a pick a player to win when down many games to another champion player.
