Posting about 1 foot on the floor on FB

The "one foot on the floor" rule has been there in pool tournaments forever. Back in the day when we made a game (gambling) we would have to stipulate "up on the table" prior to starting so this was allowed. No stipulation and it was one foot on the floor. I always asked for up on the table because it helped me reach many shots without a bridge. Up on the table was a common practice in gambling matches.

Do the best players you know have OCD or perfectionistic qualities moreso than the average person??

The ability to do that can be said to be a form of this. The determination and will above all others reeks of it.
extreme determination is different from "intrusive thoughts"
everyone feels sad from time to time
that does not mean they suffer from depression
i think you are over diagnosing committed people

–compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder in which an individual has intrusive thoughts (an obsession) and feels the need to perform certain behaviors (compulsions) repeatedly to relieve the distress caused by the obsession, to the extent where it impairs general function.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsessive–compulsive_disorder#cite_note-NIH20152-1"><span>[</span>1<span>]</span></a><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsessive–compulsive_disorder#cite_note-DSM52-2"><span>[</span>2<span>]</span></a><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsessive–compulsive_disorder#cite_note-Sartorius-7"><span>[</span>7<span>]</span></a> OCD has been described since antiquity and has affected numerous notable historical and contemporary figures; understandings of it were historically rooted in religion and beliefs about demonic possession.

who are "they"? i don't think "they" had sports governing body in 1674, but the book cited by bob likely reflects how it was played in england and probably also france at the time.
The early "official" rules were determined by people like Cotton and later Hoyle who went to the trouble of writing down the rules more or less clearly, consistently and completely, based on how people played at the time. I think the first cue sports governing bodies were (from Wikipedia):

The Billiards and Snooker Control Council (B&SCC) (formerly called the Billiards Association and Control Council (BA&CC)) was the governing body of the games of English billiards and snooker and organised professional and amateur championships in both sports. It was formed in 1919 by the union of the Billiards Association (founded in 1885) and the Billiards Control Club (founded in 1908).

In the US, cue sports were governed by Brunswick from about 1890 until about 1950.
